Pictures in items?

Ya I was woundering how you could select an item, and then a picture would appear. (I want to have a pic for the controls in my game)
Thanks in advance!

Make an event in the "Common Events" tab, then insert "Show Picture." Then, go to the "Items Tab," select the item in question, and under "Common Event," select the event you just made.

Not sure what you mean by "I want to have a pic for the controls in my game," though.

I did this for a multiplayer battle game I made a long time ago. What I would do is perhaps make a sign or something on one of the beginning maps so when you activate the sign, the picture shows up. Or you could always just make it so when the Q button (or any other button you choose) is being pressed, the picture pops up.

Either way, you'll either need a "Show Picture" for the sign event, or a common event with a "Show Picture" in a common event (If you use an item in your inventory, set the common event to a trigger. And make sure you make some way of turning the picture off. And if you use a hold key then set the trigger to parallel so it will work anywhere as long as a certain switch is activated.

Or... just simply use an event in the very beginning that shows the controls while teaching you about the game.

Ahh, thanks! I forgot about the show picture. (I am still sorta new) And Xanirus, my game uses the entire keyboard, so I thought it would be handy to have an item (abook to be exact) so you can check the controls when you need to.
Ya in my game for the tutorials they tell you the controls and then you try it, then after the tutorial you get the book. (The control manual)
Thanks guys!

Yeah, its my first game, its an ABS and I hope to get a demo of it out some time this weekend. (I'm getting some people to test it first before I put it on my site)

RMXP is a really great place for critiques. Just put your story in a Concept Development post, and add the demo there. I'm sure you'll get a lot of takers. However; you'd better let people know that you're new, because some people can be pretty harsh. Good luck. Can't wait to see your project's thread.

Hm, didn't think of getting testers here yet.. I might do it. If I don't I could PM you when the demo is finished and a link to my site. (My game will be there) The demo is a lot of fun! But the demo only shows one part to the story. (There is no *real bad guy* in the demo but you will be introduced to the real bad guy a bit after the demo ends) Its my first game and i'm only 13 (well, in two months I will be.) So I hope you won't be too harsh.

Wow. You have exceptional English and grammar for a 12 year old! You usually never see anyone who uses apostrophes or who actually knows how to capitalize a sentence around here anymore. Ha ha.

I'm impressed. And yeah, if you'd like to pm me with the link, I'd be thrilled to test the game for you. If you ever need any help, you can add me on MSN messenger if you have it. numbfromseptember@hotmail.com

Good luck.
