Permenant event movement

In my game, I've got an evented character that follows my main character around for the first map. How do I make the event stay with him and not return to its original place if you leave the first map or if you load the game?

Because it looks strange to have that event follow you around and then once you have to leave the map and return to it, that event is nowhere in sight.

Could someone please help.

On the first page of the event, set the Movement to "Approach"
On the second page, set the condition to "Switch  [0001: Follow Me]  is ON"
Set the trigger to "Autorun"
Then, in the commands, "Set Event Location" right next to the exit,
Then "Control Switches: [0001: Follow Me] = OFF

Now, in the exit event, Transfer the player, then "Control Switches: [0001: Follow Me] = ON"

Be Well

Thanks for your help, Brewmeister. But now I've stumbled on another problem. I'm using common events for the event to follow him around, connected to a switch. However, once the switch has been turned off the common event still runs.

Nothing I'm doing is changing that. Please help!
