Painted Maps.

Hello there,

I'd like your opnion on this here:

First one was the first attempt, it lacked detail, lines were a bit messy... the other ones are the updated versions, as we were talking about regular docks I think the second one looks better, though the third is also very nice, but it should be used in a peculiar scenario.

What do you think? Which one is your favourite, why? What do you think that could be improved?

Thanks for your time,
Delmaschio.

the third could be a night scene, the fourth could be used when there's like soemthing really bright in the sky, like it's midday afternoon or whatever. Everything looks rather okay- the fact that it's painted allows it for lots of details that would be quite nice to see. The last map looks sort of the same as the second map so uh, which ever looks better.
god my thought process is effed right now. :\ Cool maps, though, very nicely detailed and stuff.

I think they look great! it'd be cool if more people did painted maps. they're all pretty (although the last one seems rather blurry) but really it depends on what type of atmosphere you're going for.

personally, I'm quite fond of the second iteration but the fourth is nice too.

The game settings is a mix of post apocalyptic and a very rich nature world. What I mean is there is land which is apocalyptic and another one that is beautiful in nature and etc...

All in all, I'm not looking for a cutesy style nor am I looking for a radical post-apocalyptic, I think something in between.

i think something simplistic while detailed, and realistic would do. You don;t have to go fallout with craploads of vast destroyed scenes, but something simple and navigatable could be used. (was it clear?)

things to be added could be like a rope or anchor tieing the boat to the dock,. maybe something else. not really sure atm

This is a RPG that would be released for the PC, or maybe DS, would I be okay if I followed the art style in the second and third screen? What I'm really asking is, is the art quality really good? As players, is it attractive to you?

hahahahaha
eff yes it's quite attractive. very detailed, yet straight and good and whatever. There's a general feeling from it, and whatever, it's just nice man.
man if you don't like that you've got some high standards  besides it's easy to imagine playing on what's seen
and the second and third screens are quite very good.

It's comforting to hear that!
Anyway, I'm still open to feedback! What do you think about it, anything that could be improved here and there?

1 looks more like a concept art to me and 5 is blurry.
I think you could use 2, 3 and 4 for different light effects. The most important point is, that you keep your textures that detailed.

I like 2,3,4 the best.
3 is great if you want a gloomy atmosphere.
It can also be used for nighttime although I think it's somehow a bit off for that. I cannot what exactly that gives me that feeling though.

4 is light and happy.

I like 2 for being more normal and dirty.

*hugs*

Yes, the second one is my favourite too.
Again, the first screenshot is just a concept, the other ones are the actual usable versions. Thank for the feedback, I still would like to hear more!

Holy shit, this is awesome! I like 2 and 3 above all.
I wish I can see more from you.

Personally 2 and 3.

2 seems the most realistic and would probably suit most games.

3 seems more Discworldy for some reason. I dunno, I love the look and the colours, but it makes me think "Discworld II: Gone Missing" which is a major plus point. Not sure why though because other than the colour tone Discworld doesn't look like that

The others seem washed out or faded to me.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I really appreciate it, you guys helped a lot.

@mouse
I like the third better too, even though I know the second would fit pretty much every genre, there will be a few post-apocalyptic places in the game, so I think the third fits good for that setting.
