Original Field and Battle Music

Hello :)

I sat down last night (first time in a while I was able to do that) and composed a battle theme. It sounds good to me, so I wanted to share it for all to use. The instruments are arranged to fit in with the default RTP and it loops seemlessly.

I'm also posting a field/overworld type song that I produced earlier.

Battle01.mid
Field01.mid

Post and tell me what you think. :)

P.S. My username on RMXP.net was Gyrowolf. I composed and uploaded alot of songs to the web, but my harddrive crashed on me, and shortly after my host deleted my website (due to inactivity I guess). So I have to start over.

Battle01, Is a good example of flawless Traditional rpg music that is very compatible with the RTP-feel. I would say that it sounds more of a Boss battle theme rather than a main battle, because most main battle themes have no great exaggeration to them, like pushing fear into the theme, it's 'relaxed' in a way. But it would be how people will see it; I would say it fits very well as a boss :)
Field01, Skill-wise, you've added great texture and progressions to this one. I really like the sense traditionalism, and variety of instruments. The only part I am somewhat going left and right with is the beginning, it feels a bit like something's missing, but I'm assuming you let that for the second time it is played. Reminds of pokemon btw ^_^

Thanks, I'm glad you like them. ^_^

Battle01 does sound a little "bossy", doesn't it? I thought about this while I was uploading the song, but decided to let others decide.

With Field01, I tried filling in some of that emptiness with the timpani until the second half, but it wasn't enough, and I didn't want to over crowd those measures. :hmm01: The trumpet's part at the end is also a little bland. I'll have to rethink and reupload this later.

I cannot hear them
Do you mean there's no sound when you play them, or you can't download the files (though the links work fine for me)?

Seems your server is down, I cannot hear them anymore either. I'm getting a server not found with Firefox.

I LOVE the battle theme. Would you mind if I used it as a base for a boss theme in my zelda game? You will get all required credit.

Hmm, it's probably going in and out (or up and down). I'll upload the battle theme (renamed to Gyro-Boss01) to the RMXP.org Downloads (I can do that right?). Then, after I fix it up a bit, I'll upload the Field theme.

Of course you may. :thumbsup01:

Very cool dude. I hope to see more music from you because you really seem to have a talent for it.

Thank you! :cheery01:

Thank you :happy01:

The songs were produced in Microsoft's DirectMusic Producer, my favorite music authoring tool. I've used it for a few years now. Oh and yes, it's free. You can download it from Microsoft's website by clicking the link above.

DirectMusic® Producer is the authoring tool that enables composers and sound designers to create content for DirectX® audio. <snip>

It's a complex program that takes some time getting used to, but it's worth learning. :thumbsup01:

Wow, this is really good music!

The battle theme is definitely more suited to a boss, and the field theme is a bit bland in some parts, but it's very nice music! I look forward to seeing more of your compositions.
