B&W Shading Layer
Color Applied
Face needs to be redone, i drew it with my mouse, other than that critique is welcome.
it goes along with the animated battler in my avatar, main character of my game, took me about 4 hours to color after i scanned in an inked version of the rough pencil drawing i did thats floating somewhere in the art & graphics section somewhere, my drawing skills with a mouse i found out are sub-par, im gonna have to draw his face and scan it in so it doesnt look like a kindergarten crayon face lol.
this is my first digital coloring of a drawing, basicly what i did quite simply is this.
1) draw a pic, inked it, threw in subtle shading in key spots with a 20% gray prismacolor marker
2) using the smudge tool i used the spots where the prisma was and blended the shading to my liking, then adjusted the image levels to darken, re-smudge, rinse repeat until it looks right.
3) made an individual layer per color, set those layer's mode to multply, basily overlay colors on top of the shaded b&w pic, used 50% opacity with 35% flow on a brush tool, darkened areas that needed more color. get it to where you like it, clean up the edges.
4)toss up another layer for the highlights, i found that the layer mode "overlay" with a 12% opacity and 12% flow looked best in my case, clean it up and put on the finishing touches.
