Hey guys, I was again playing around with my crappy keyboard and found coincidentally the byzantine scale, i've shown it to my ex-guitarist, and this is what we could do so far... (shortend to the best parts, i made all the tootling^^)

Listening to the first one; tweaked with higher quality VSTs and this would be a very awesome piece. I like it. Well, not in this form, but I see exactly what you were going for and you got it as well as you could with what you had. :grin:

The second slower version.. not so much. :

i agree with what gadget said about the vst quality part, i really like the melody a lot in this one. theres one note that repeats twice that sounds off, the high E at about 39 seconds (repeats again later) i raised it up a half step to an F in the little version i made for you

After listening to it again I also did my own mix. I added the trumpet accompaniment and slightly altered the length.

After rereading your post I'm thinking you wanted it more for guitars, eh? I did two more mixes for ya, Caldaron, one acoustic and the other electric.

Gulch, if you didn't like the trumpet part you aren't going to like that I added it to the guitar versions as well. :box:

i didnt really remix it, i just slapped a vst on it so he could hear it with better quality instruments

To reiterate, I love the melody and the formula of the song.

Gadget, the acoustic is awesome.

The electric doesn't sound to good in the beginning, but shortly after it gets really cool.

What instruments did you use? I can't find too good of VSTs these days.

And also, Gulch I found that The Slayer 2 is very hard to work with, but I can work with it.

Yeah the first part is kinda eh with the electric version, maybe I'll fix it up sometime. Thanks for the compliment. I used the EW/QL sound library for the guitar versions, specifically EWQL Colossus, not sure if you can convert it into seperate soundfonts or not.

Well after a weekend of erhearsal with my current band dargolf (visit dargolf.de to listen to my beautyful voice, it's the new song up (I'm not the dude in the vocals pic )) my friend (has also some songs online at myspace.com/macewinduftw (listen to the 2 at the bottom, they're the best)) has given me an update of his version, i'm mostly common with it, except for the blasts, dont fit to this mood, so i kinda edited it, but i think i go over it again, when it's not 3 in the morning

yeah I like the trumpets gogogadget, nice arranged with the staccato parts in it and i enjoined the electric part after the introducing 'riff', but as gulcha mentioned it's more of a sitar song and was in the beginning, till my pal decided to put it on his upcoming record (on which i hope to sing) and changed it to the guitars. (Anyway, i think i start again with the older version and do it my way)

I used EW/QL Colossus, although if you ever wanted to use a program aimed specifically at guitars by the same company look into Ministry of Rock (About $350 US currency).

It was fun messing around with it, I had a good time. /cigar

i just slapped your midi into fruity loops and put a vst on it, i used slayer 2. its a half decent elecrtic guitar vst, the only one im really familiar with.

seems like your friends double bass is off time or something, it just doesnt sound right, the one you edited seemed to clear that up. with your permission i would enjoy doing an actual edit of this song. not just tossing a vst on it, do a little gulch remix so to speak.
