One & Done [Johnny Template]

The template used for the sprite below is Tana's Johnny Template:

I haven't sprited or been around here for a while, partly because I don't play many video games or do much graphic design anymore but after I saw Tana's template I was especially motivated to give spriting a go again. Comments and criticism are much appreciated.

The hair could use a bit more shading, and he appears to be cock-eyed...

His eyes are facing two differn't directions. Center them more. The rips in the fabric are done nicely. the shading on the clothing is done well but I think it'd be better with some more constrast. Add in more of the daker tones. The hair is done just like the clothes...when it requires a differnt texture. This area needs the most work and would be good for some more constrast and when shading try to show more how the strands are clumpped together more instead of shading the entire hair as a whole.

Mmmm thanks for the comments, i'm still working on adding more individual strands to the hair and adding contrast to the shirt but I updated the first post with a newer version of the sprite in which I changed the eyes and touched up upon a few messy areas.

The eyes make him look demonic - is that the look you're going for? I think he needs more white in his eyes.

Meh I was originally going for that demonic look but after messing around a bit I think the character looks better with normal eyes.

I might however reuse those eyes if I decided to make a demonic version of the character. I'd probably also add some more muscles and tint everything a slight red, i'm not sure yet but vague memories of Dragonball Z are starting to creep into my head ':|

I also added a quick rtp variation of the character, it doesn't look nearly as nice as the Johnny Template version though >_>...

I think those eyes look a lot better.

The RTP edition doesn't quite capture the character as well.

It might be hard to tell but I ended up editing the rtp version of the character again so that his hair more closely resembles that of the Johnny Template version. I also added another version of the rtp character in which a sword is strapped to his back... Any comments on whether or not I should keep the brown "strap" on that version would be appreciated.

On a side note since i've never been that good at spriting smaller sprites I may ultimately end up requesting someone to finish the rtp version of the sprite for me since when I compare my sprite to other rtp sprites the shading doesn't match at all and my characters look rather flat ;-;
