Oceans bunch of stuff

Just some artwork of mine over the period of a few months or so. I tend to prefer pixel art, though sometimes I'll do other mediums, like Oil or drawing.

Lulu! I haven't yet gotten around to shading her. Yes, I know she's smily, deal with it!

Tall Sakaki sprite. 15 colors total.

CJ. It was a redrawing of an old character of mine.

A Sakaki sprite. 9 colors.

That's all for now. I may post more stuffs at a later time.

the lulu picture kinda reminds me of vgcats, i also like the picture of the old character, but i dont know what the other two people are though

Sure, you may not like the style, but what does your personal opinion about what types of things you like help me? If it were something like "I dislike anime style, I think you should try getting into more realistic drawings", I'd at least acknowledge what you're trying to say.

Well, while I'm here, I'll update it a bit with some more pixel stuffs. I like doing them, so I'm glad that you guys liked them:

Bridge background. I forget the color count for this, but it's probably around 24 colors for this.

A bunch of monsters I'm using in my game. They're about 5-6 colors each, and the battle background will be black.

A rather annoying and ugly style.

I'm pretty sure he means the style in your... non-spriting endeavors. I'd be inclined to agree with him too. It's just that your faces... They completely neglect actual facial features and focus completely on the eyes. You've got talent (especially for your spriting, those are beautiful), and I think you should try a piece that uses realistically sized eyes and facial features beyond one line for the nose and one for the mouth. (also I just don't like that Lulu picture at all, it just doesn't strike me as up to par with the other things you posted)

EDIT: oh I forgot to mention, they focus completely on the eyes in that they're big, but that's just traditional anime, the giant eye thing is so tired for still-work, because the point of that is so that you can see the movements of the eyes better, and the emotions conveyed better. It seems silly if it's not in animation.

I like how anime girls in general look (I really like the art style in 2x2 Shinobuden, which is what I was using as a reference for Lulu). I don't really watch anime that often so it hasn't really bothered me, but I can see how others might not like it.

I don't actually draw that much, since I don't really like doing drawings by hand and prefer to work on the computer (I don't have a tablet, so I can't draw directly in Photoshop), but I could certainly try doing one with more realistic facial features. I've practiced drawing human bodies, but not faces so I think I could use some more practice on that. It's partly because realistic people don't really interest me as much, with probably a few exceptions.

Those pixel arts are friggin amazingly gorgeous. So much so I don't think I can allow myself to knock the other stuff because the pixels make up for it 10,000 fold.

Your sprite work is incredible. It shows definite talent there, and the amount of detail with so little colors is simply incredible. However, your actual drawings need some work with anatomy and detail, something your sprite-work seems to have gone very far past. If you had not told me, I would say they were done by two separate artists. Bottom Line: If you pay as much attention to detail as with your sprites with your hand-drawn things, you could be a very talented and well-rounded artist.

Heheh, I agree with you. I just don't draw or do non-pixel work often enough, so I need to practice more with that. I will be trying out more speed paintings, so you may expect to see some more of that, although I have to do more pixel backgrounds this semester. I'm glad you like those, though! Working with pixels is really fun and I just can't seem to stop myself, unlike drawing where I kinda force myself to do it.

Your scenery pixelwork is amazing. Unfortuantely your people don't seem to live up to the same standard. Just a little more practise and they could be great too. I think some different facial expressions could go a long way :P

I have to agree with Anglachel. Your faces seem so static; there's too much space between the nose and mouth. This is what makes her face look dull. Your scenery is simply amazing, so I can't really say much about that.
