Oblivion IV PS3 or 360?

Hey everyone,

I'm buying my first next gen console this coming Saturday and I was wondering which console is The Elder Scrolls Oblivion IV better for...PS3 or 360?

I'm planning on getting a 360 this Saturday and save up in time for a PS3 this X-mas. Although Oblivion came out on both consoles...which will provide me with a better gaming experience. PS3 or 360 version...

My dream 360 games:
Gears of war
HALO 3
Killzone 2
Call of Duty 4
More to come...

Well, from a technical/graphical standpoint, the PS3 version is better just because the PS3 is more powerful. You will notice a faint increase in graphic quality and a slight decrease in slowdown in the PS3 version.

That being said, until Metal Gear & HOME comes out, there really isn't a reason to buy a PS3 right now, so I'd say the 360 version if you haven't purchased either console yet. I hate saying it, because I despise Microsoft, but Sony's the clear loser at this point in the game.

It's still early though, we'll see what happens.

If you can, get it for the PC. If you can't, it doesn't really matter, so you should just get it with whatever system you get first.

If you have to go with console (because PC Elder Scrolls are always better) then buy it on the 360 since you have a list of games anyways. There's no difference between the PS3 and 360 version except slightly farther draw distance. I still noticed occasional stutter on the ps3 version.

I'm pretty sure both versions have the same downloadable content and you can just get the GOTY edition anyways and pick up everything.

And I don't see Bioshock on the list or The Orange Box. No 360 can go without those two games... unless you own the PC versions.

Oh and Killzone 2 isn't a 360 game.

Also Mass Effect comes out next month and it'll pretty much pwn everything on any other system including the PC for a good while. I know this for a fact.

The PS3 version is vastly superior to the 360 version. I was at a LAN party, and my buddy Matt and I were playing PS3 and 360 Oblivion side by side. The draw distance, texture filtering, load speeds, frame rate, everything is better on the PS3.

HOWEVER, none of the dowloadable content is available on the PSN yet (I'm under the impression that it will be some day) but if you get the GoTY version, you get both of the major content expansions.

So, if you get the GoTY edition of Oblivion for PS3, you will be getting the superior version. Hell, I can't even play the PC version anymore.

This is, of course, all irrelevant if you're one of those "ZOMG ACHIEVEMENTS" types, which you probably aren't if you don't have a 360 yet.

The Game of the Year Edition for the PS3 is coming out this week; so get that. The PS3 totally owns the 360 on this game. Cant say the difference between the PC and PS3 version though. But i know from personal experience that the 360 one is nothing compared to the PS3 version. it's just over all superior.

There's only one expansion. I haven't played it for the consoles, so that's why I said it doesn't matter (because I didn't know <_<). Get it for the PS3 if you must get it for a console system, as the other posters have said.

The only reason I want a PS3 is because MetalGearSolid 4, Killzone 2 and Warhawk. Oh and the Home feature as well. As of now, I love both consoles. I'm a HUGE shooter fan. :)

It looks pretty tied right now...lol. I should have put up a poll...

Get the PC version. Trust me. If you like customization (Like Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul) then go for the PC version. Otherwise, it really dosen't matter. Sure the PS3 looks shinier, but all copies of Oblivion have people that look like ass and bugs up the wazoo.

If you're after Oblivion, it's coming out on PSP later.

It's not Oblivion, it's a dungeon crawling spinoff and even that information isn't 100% true. I can bet you my left testicle the game was canceled.

And don't let us persuade you into throwing away 400-600 bux. Do some research yourself.

Although Little Big Planet is reason enough for me to buy a ps3. I don't care about any other game, not even MGS4, more than LBP.

LBP had might as well be a $600 game! Hell, Super Stardust HD is one of the best shooters I've played since Einhander. (WHERE ARE YOU EINHANDER ZWEI?! PSNNNNN)

Oh, and I mentioned two expansions but I was counting the Nights of the Nine thing, which afaik adds more content than any of the other content packs short of the actual expansion.

I wanted to throw in something regarding Oblivion on PC. I played it first on PC and loved it, but had to give it up because the very mods that people rant and rave about broke it irreparably (I'm talking about mods that survived reinstalls). Anyway, I played it on a high-end (at the time) PC, and thought it looked and played great.

However, I since repaired the install with a quick reformat, I went back and gave the PC version a spin after kicking major ass on the PS3 version for a few months. Truth is, I couldn't stand the PC version. Running 1440x900 with everything maxed, and the game just didn't look as good. While the resolution was higher than on my 720p TV, that just made the improvements to the engine all the more evident. Distant scenery looked terrible, textures looked muddy, aliasing was everywhere, and the interface felt klunky with a mouse, somehow (mostly becuase it was so big, which I know you can get modded). Anyway, I prefer the PS3 version to the PC version, which is not true for most crossplatform games.
