N'W's Gallery of Graphic Design

Hey guys! Well few of you can know me from any other RPG Maker forum, though I'm not really active in anyone. To tell the true, in the moment I'm searching for a good international forum to stay (I'm Brazilian).

Here are some of mine graphic arts, most of them are old because I'm lacking of free time. I hope that you all like. Critiques and comments are welcome.

I just painted this, the sketch/drawing/lineart is from a guy called Orpheelin.

I hope you like them!

Not taking requests!

Semi professional stuff, I must say!
They are close to being able to compete with the stuff in the big budget games.
Great work man. If you are searching for a forum for graphics inspiration, I am trying to start mine, in http://www.anothera.net

First sorry for the necropost.
I wanna thank you guys for the comments, I really appreciate it.
Soon I will post some new arts, I'm not working so much with this, but I made some new things.

The logos have too much Photoshop junk on them. Filters and fancy overlays should be used very, very sparingly. Try toning down the effects and focusing on making your basic design as solid as possible instead.

I don't use Photoshop. A thing that you have to take in consideration is the context and the objective of the art, in this case they aren't for serious business or for literally represent a mark, they are just illustrations for games, and by this point of view there are no problems in using more effects and resources.

A example of the logo that I most like is the one from Godfather. But I'm not capable of make this kind of work yet. I agree that a basic design is more interesting, unfortunately I'm not good with vectors, so I continue in my style.

Thanks anyway.

Not PS? What do you use then?

My favorites were the Miani Creations logo and the first menu you have there. Others, like the Ken Solar and GG logos are pretty basic and very amateur in my opinion. Still, embelishing with hundreds of layer styles and filters won't get you anywhere. I'd go in the direction of stylized and minimalistic. Final Fantasy's logo is only text in a unique font, with a image in the background. But it works.

Otherwise, I'd say you're still better than me~

I disagree.
You have to take into account what the logos' purpose is.

A corporate logo needs to be plain. It needs to be simple because it is usually printed on a very wide range of products, such as pens, business cards, advertisements, etc. etc. This is expensive. Less colors/effects, less cost. Also, more product recognition, as it is easier to remember a very finite number of shapes or colors.

A game logo [typically] needs to be flashy. It needs to convey mood, setting, meaning, time period, etc etc. This is typically done via effects and variations in typestyle. These are actually mostly really good examples of what a typical video game logo should incorporate. Much better than what you typically see on the site, definitely.

I use Fireworks CS4. It's not so powerful like Photoshop, but it's also a good editor.
I understand what you're saying, but I'm really not skilled in making "stylized and minimalistic" logos, even I like more of this style.

It's what I said, all depends of the objective and context of the logo.
Thanks for the comment, it's an honor.

And this is my latest logo: (using only 2 layers...)

It have a sharpen problem in some places, I can't see them because my monitor is a little old, with a blurry image even in high resolution.
