It's a great program for the price ($40). I've been using it for almost nine years now, and it can do most things you would want to. Just keep in mind that it does lack some of the more advanced MIDI controllers since it is mainly a sheet music program, not a MIDI composition program (though that's what I use it for). Still, considering that a big name program like CakeWalk can run you up to something like $600, it's a steal.

Yeah, Noteworthy is a reasonable program, though I can't really comment in detail since I have the musical talent of a dead fish. Still, it, perhaps together with Sonicfoundry/Sony Soundforge, do everything you possibly want with music; and both programs together are probably still cheaper than some vicious complicated thing like Cakewalk or Sibelius. (Especially if you're just abusing the trial versions, LOL)

While it isn't really intended for MIDI composition, I use it for such, and I find that it's generally very good at it. I just recently downloaded Anvil Studio, and I can't say I'm very impressed with it. I really like the way you enter notation with NWC and how simple it is to use. You can always just get the trial shareware version to test it out before coughing up the cash for it.

Anvil Studio is a LOT better IMHO. Noteworthy is simpler, but a lot more limited in most departments. Dunno, maybe I'm weird :/
