You know how game instruction manuals have that blank page in the back for you to write notes. Does anyone actually write anything down? I can't imagine someone actually using it. But someone has to right? Otherwise they wouldn't put it there.
I would have used it on old gameboy games that used password systems and cheatcodes. But I never had a place to keep the manual so they got lost.
Do the newer generation games even have cheat codes anymore?

[rant] And why is it when I buy a used game it never comes with a manual? Where does it go? Why? [/rant]

I don't use the note pages, I just write cheats and/or ways to do certain things on another piece of paper O_o its fine for me..

The note pages are there because they have to bind the booklets with page numbers that are multiples of four. Or so I've heard. Sometimes they seem to throw them in out of habit.

Makes sense. I see the extra pages used for ad space. They also have those mail in survey cards.
If I saw cheat codes in a magazine or a page with Tips/hints I would just tear the page out and shove it in the case.

Shit, I bought Eternal Sonata for my sister's birthday NEW. They gave me the display copy and took it in the back to "rewrap" it and when she opened it that night, it had no goddamn manual.

Moral of the story: fuck Gamestop and I hope that lawsuit over free DLC advertisments on used game boxes puts them out of business. And don't tell me "but what about all those people who will lose their jobs? :(" because they're the ones perpetrating these things.

On topic: I came from a time long after the days when people would actually need to keep their own notes. I've tried the old-school RPGs where you had to make your own maps and keep tabs on what you've been told, and they're charming, but God forbid you lose those notes.

In games like Contra or even Suikoden, it just seems silly. I guess I've never had trouble keeping my manuals, though. Hell, I still have my Crystalis manual, and I got that game for my fifth birthday.

gamestop isnt going to go out of business. They do suck but a lil lawsuit like that isnt going to make them close down. Anyways i never used the notes section but in the olden days when i bought a NES or SNES game used there would be those long ass codes in the notes section

There is no way the guy is gonna win that lawsuit since it is clearly printed on the box that the free dlc offer is only valid with a full-retail purchase (i.e. full-price which means new).

I bought a used copy of one of the .hack games... the manual was, uh, sticky. On one of the pages that had a full-body portrait of one of the scantily-clad lady characters, no less. It was immediately disposed of.

Eww.

I've got a friend that works at gamestop. Some guy try trading in a game that have the public library stamp on it. They refused to take it and called the library. Sure enough it was checked out. They hung onto it and told the guy to gtfo.
At least gamestop has some integrity. The other used game store in town smells like pot.

I might care more if manuals covered more than the basic controls; you learn most of them in an in-game tutorial anyways. A few manuals have had some interesting stuff 'bout the characters and weapons, I guess.

Awesome Bro

The only time I look in the manual, is when I'm playing an RPG, since they usually have character info etc. which is always cool.

the only thing i read a manual for, was for twisted metal 2. i had no clue there were shields and freeze blasts and mines and special combos until i finally flipped through it one day. i kept seeing the computer use those things and it was pissing me off.

otherwise.. the manual has nothing anymore.

er.... what notes?
On that topic, what manual?
On THAT topic, I haven't bought a new console game in months, so what game?

g'night
