Nintendo DSi

I recently picked up a Nintendo DSi and I'd like to tell the folks here on RMXP.ORG what I think of it. First of all, it is BAD ASS. Imagine the Wii's originality, only with GOOD GAMES. Its a little longer than the DS Lite, and the screen is noticeably bigger. It has 2 cameras (One to take a picture of you, the other to take pictures of things in front of you) which have so far proven pretty interesting in a few games. If you've ever used a Wii, you should know that there is a store to buy Applications and games for your console. The DSi adopted this, and although I'm not sure how long, whenever you go into it the first time, they give you 1,000 free DSi points. There's not much available at the moment, but I'm sure that this will change. You can download an internet browser for free, and buy a game or two. My favorite piece of DSi Ware so far is Wario Ware Snaped. This game is FUCKING AWESOME!! It uses the camera function to do the crazy little Wario Ware minigames that a lot of people have come to know and love. It still has the basic things like PictoChat, and DS Download and Play, but the camera and Music Player are BAD ASS. A few downsides are the fact that the Music Player can only play (I think this is the right file format) .OGG's, and if your an Action Replay DS user you have to wait for Codemasters to release a version that runs on the DSi.

Overall, I give the DSi a 10/10.

Sorry if this is a bump, but I had to try posting something with the DSi's web browser. It works insanley good!!
WASTE OF MONEY! if you already own a DS. Plus lots of the features its adding is already on the PSP cept camera stuff... well kinda but not in NA >.> I don't plan on getting it sense my DS lite works fine. Plus it costs like 60 bucks more then a DS lite...

It's not a waste of money!! It's incredible!!!!!

But maybe you're forgetting... a games console is for playing games, if I wanted to take pictures, I'd buy a camera, if I wanted to browse the net, I'd use a laptop, or better yet, a phone can do both of those things.

The DSi really is a waste of money, it's just Nintendo scraping whats left of peoples wallets, I mean, I still have my original DS, cause the Lite to me looks terrible, and the DSi, well as I've said, I can do everything that can do with my phone, so it's not really amazing is it.

And Mega Flare is right by saying the PSP can do all that anyways, so it's nothing unbelievable that hasn't been done before.... and the PSP does have a camera attachment (And it's a higher megapixel than the DSi if I'm not mistaken).

Sorry to have shit on your bonfire, but, well, it's the truth.

I use that arguement against the PS3 when people say its better than the 360 because it has a Blu-Ray Player/works as an internet browser.

Pretty much the only "good" features of the DSi are the larger screens, the layout changes, and the sd card slot. The rest I could do without.

Lol. Blu-ray = more disk space = more game content. And yes, I do realize you mean for movies, but it goes beyond that. You will never see the 360 with a game that looks as good as MGS4 or Killzone 2.

As far as the DS, PSP or any of that shit goes, they're all a waste of money. The big games are going to be on the consoles/PC, so why spend more money for the same game on a tiny screen? It's a stupid concept.

Because God of War: Chains of Olympus, and Resistance Retribution are fucking amazing, heh.

Pokemon was the only reason I bought a DS. I only bought a lite because my DS broke. If you have a DS, it's worth changing to the DSi. If you have a lite, don't bother.

Comparing a handheld to a console seems a pointless exercise to me. They're designed to be portable, not to be cutting-edge high-performance machines.

Or if you have an original DS and a phone, don't bother either, cause as I've said, a phone can surf the web and take photo's just as well, it can also play music and have movies on (LG Viewty + Rambo 4 on a 2 hour coach ride = Woot.)

And oyeah, did I forget to mention... you can phone peope with it, lol.

the major drawback of a dsi for me is that r4 cards (and anything else of the writable third-party ds card variety) won't work. there hasn't been much in the way of games that I'd actually consider paying for in a long while. unless the library for this is absolute gold, I'd spend the money on an iPhone instead. same basic tools, plus it's a phone.....for you

My point is, when are you going to have time to play them? If you're visiting someone, you should be spending time with them, even if it means playing a real console, not playing a portable (hard to watch someone play on a tiny assed screen). If you're driving.. duh. Like, I just can't see when there'd be a point in my life where I'm so fucking bored I have to whip out a portable "console" and play it right then and there.

When you're in the passenger seat of a car, when you're using public transport, when you're walking down the street, while your sat watching TV...(Yeah I watch TV and play my PSP/DS at the same time, lol)

You don't have to be bored to play games, lol.

I'm not saying there's no market, because obviously people buy them, but I'm saying they're pointless. If you're the passenger of a car, you can just talk to the other person(s) in there with you.. that's what I always do. Personally, for me, there is just never a point to whip out a tiny gaming machine and play, because if I have time to play a game, it's in my living room on a big screen with a real console, or on the PC.
