Next- Gen Darkstalkers

What would you want in the next gen installment of the vampiric series? :-/

Updated sprites. Excluding the Gem Fighter and "cross" series, Morrigan has had the same sprite since the original Darkstalkers. Infact, all the characters have. I NEED AN UPDATE.

Megaflare, you have no idea what you're talking about.

2D fighters and 3D fighters are two very different animals due to strategy and style. The cellanimation style on a good 2D fighter is great fun to watch and play especially a lot of the Capcom franchises that are just a trip.

Some net play option would be nice so you're not limited to just your local friends and the computer. Maybe a very simplistic story mode for unlockables (extra characters, sets, etc. how well you do in each fight dictates what branch of the story you take) Maybe somebody new, like a Hunchback of Notre Dame freak like character with a rope swing attack and some kind of giant-bells schtick, or an ethereal more euorpean-styled ghost character with lots of flowing bits and ectoplasmic based attacks. Try to bring back as amany of the old characters as possible, but maybe not have all of them playable right off (have a few as unlockables).

Just some random thoughts off the top of my head. I used to play Rikuo, Jedah, and Hsien-Ko.

The best fighting games are 2D.
KoF
Street Fighter
SSBM(although not sprite based, it takes place in an entirely 2D plane)
Guilty Gear
Etc.

3D would kill them. Although 3D fighters are fun, they just can't match the exaggerated effects and faster movement of 2D fighters. Besides, whoever said 2D was inferior? Just because it's older doesn't make it worse. There are many things you can do in 2D that either look terrible in 3D, or are just plain impossible.

Well, either way, give DarkStalkers the Street Fighter 2 HD treatment and I'll be happy.

DarkStalkers is awesome, kind of like Street Fighter though with a more horror theme to it. I agree with Dopples on keeping the 2D sprites and updating them.

I'd imagine that, with the more diverse and interesting characters, Darkstalkers would make better use of hi-res sprites then Streetfighter.
