New Watchmen Char Features

There was another Watchmen topic a while back but whatever this is new.

http://www.traileraddict.com/tags/watchmen

You can see little half-minute character features on every main character, and see some TV Spots and even a feature on the original heroes, and making their costumes and everything.

3/6/09 - I'm about to come just thinking about it @_@

I was expecting Veidt to be a lot more smug...and I wish they'd cast Robert Downey Jr. as the Comedian (though he's a bit small to play the part, I guess...).

omg I'm so looking forward to this @_@

These trailers seem to focus a little too much on the action, though. I mean, I guess they have to be EXCITING enough for non-fans, but still. :\

I hope the action doesn't overshadow the actual meat of the story.

It's got 11 inches of story, I doubt the action can even take it!!!!

Sorry I couldn't resist

Anyhow. While I'm looking forward to seeing this, I keep being reminded that most people around me are assholes and look down on comics, so no one wants to come and see it with me on the premiere. So I guess I'll have to wait? Idk, I'm not into the whole "go to the theater alone", even though it's not that big of a deal. Plus I do want to see it.

I'll just have to re-read it over and over again until then.

If you are in Boston for the premiere I'd go with you. I'm trying to get a buddy of mine from UNH to come down. Or hey maybe I'll go up there if i'm still just subbing.

everyone come to tampa and we'll all go together <3

Actually what's funny is I thought the guy who plays Comedian WAS RDJr until I read the cast list. Though the first time I saw it, it was on the internet, and the resolution was a little low.

I rather LIKE there aren't really any big-time A+ list actor names here. I'm really sick of seeing the same 40 people in every goddamned movie.

WHat I'm super duper impressed by is the director (and whomever else)'s attention to detail. I mean the scenes are so direct from the comic. God I hope that the movie lives up to atleast some of the immense hype I've built up for it :crossfingers:

Alan Moore is endorsing it and he told V for Vendetta to kiss his ass, so I'd say he's hard to please on adaptations of his work. Interestingly the the set designers spent a ton of time on all the minor details the little keepsakes, recreating the old photos. posters, and personal affects from the comics. Alan Moore worked hard to let setting tell his story and given the amount of detail that the director has put into the sets, I wouldn't be surprised that we'll have a lot of shots in deep focus to allow many of the objects off the camera's point of focus to be largely distinguishable.

I can't wait to see this. Alan Moore was completely against the movie-tization of his comic though.
I hope they don't screw it up. The comic is just too epic and really didn't have a whole lot of action in it. Movies based on comics though are usually full of action.

Don't get me wrong, I love action and superheroes kicking butt, however this particular title will be hard to find just the right balance of it.

Dr. Manhattan totally has a different voice than I expected. Other than that, I'm really looking forward to this movie; I loved the comic, and I too am concerned on whether the movie will do it justice.

So Alan Moore is actually endorsing it? That's really surprising.

No, Alan Moore is against it.
At least last I knew.

I read somewhere that Moore is against ANY adaptation of his work, no matter how meticulous. The artist of the comics, Dave Gibbons, is in support of the movie, though.

When asked in an interview with ReelzChannel.com about original 'Watchmen' writer Alan Moore's dismissal of his movie, Snyder was quoted as saying "Worst case scenario - Alan puts the movie on his DVD player on a cold Sunday in London and watches and says, 'Yeah, that doesn't suck too bad.'" When this was brought up with Moore himself in a later interview in the British Tripwire comics fanzine, the writer commented "That's the worst case scenario? I think he's underestimated what the worst case scenario would be... that's never going to happen in my DVD player in 'London' [Moore very famously lives in Northampton]. I'm never going to watch this fucking thing."

in the trivia for this on imdb

he has every right to be against it, it's his work and he had all his rights to it taken by the studio when DC was bought out (if i recall correctly this was what happened?) i'd hate to have something i spent so long crafting taken out of my hands against my will and to have no creative control over what happens to it, and seeing it butchered like in From Hell and The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen etc. even though he would be offered to have control over Watchmen as Snyder admires the work so much he's seen it ruined too often in the past to even want to take part. plus Moore doesn't like films much anyway, and has said before that and comics are completely different artforms, so it'd probably just annoy him ever more that this is almost shot-for-shot identical. i don't see how that's him being an 'asshole'. he requests his name be removed from the credits of the films because more often than not they're rubbish and he doesn't want the original work to be associated with such dross
