New to RPGXP

Hello, this is my first time dealing with this software. Done a little work with game maker 7 but this one is different. Can someone help me with these following questions:

1. I am wanting to make an over world map where the play can walk to and fro each city. Each time i attempted, it didnt work. (PS, if im not ,making since sorry. Im trying to make a game similar to FF1)

2. How do i customize the character menu page and the games starting page?

3. How do i get the player to travel from map to map?

1.  Have a map that will server as your overworld.  Make events for the towns that are priority below the character, and trigger by player touch.  Now make a new map for each town.  In each particular even for a town, double click in the big white box to create a new event process.  The particular one you're looking for is called transfer player, then have it transfer the player to the town map.  Now in the town map, place an event just like that at each point you want the player to be able to transfer out of a town onto the worldmap from.

2.  Go to the database to edit the grammar of the menu and title page, go to the 'system' tab specifically in the database.  Also, you can change the title graphic from there.  Anything beyond that and you need a script.
