New sprite style, need some advice.

It's hard to convert Disgaea sprites to something usable, believe me. I tried, and kept failing, but good luck with it. And the feet look terrible, btw.

Please care about your image size... there is about 95% unused white in it... WTF were you thinking? O_o (this is more graphics between the white than white between the graphics ^_^ )

The graphics itself look pretty nice... I even like the feet ^_^

SIZE="1"]I'm sorry[/SIZE] And you say these are Disgaea graphix? who/ what is that? And I dont thinlk its imposible, its actually pretty easy(so far) I just vcant tell waht colors I am using casue my comp is still tinted and Indont know how to fix it and dont have money to fix/buy new one. I dont really like the feet, the shae is ok but the shading is bleagh. And if its so imposible got any better ideas? Ill fix the size and link the damn picture.

Nightmare, doesn't really need to be said twice. Maybe you could give some criticism along with your complaint about the 1.3mb download that is almost entirely whitespace.

The feet are not that bad using the style you are going for. I think with shoes on they look fine; however, in the unshaded version they are flat and bright, and look like flippers. The shading needs to encroach further, i.e. they should not be all highlight.

There is something off about the head but I can't pinpoint it. I suspect it is that they look like footballs. Maybe make them a pixel taller to make them rounder? I don't know if that is possible within the constraints of the style you are trying to mimic. To get a feeling of roundness there should probably be a hairline more of dark shading across the back of the head, where it is roundly disappearing out of view. Also the hair colouring looks quite flat compared to the rest of the shading but I suppose that is a feature of the sprite you started with, not the template, eh?

Rye... the VEX template based on Disgaia was for a while one of the more successful templates 'til Fear of Life got cancelled and ValentineEnigma left, what is so hard about Disgaia sprites?

Disgaea is a Playstation 2 game.
Fix the tint using the settings of your monitor.

Thx erk, actually before I ready this I just made the head slightly shorter, lol. It actually loox more like what I'm trying to mimic now though, doesnt klook to bad when I add hair. Yes the hair was flat like that when I got it and I couldnt tell if their wasother blue tha I just couldnt see due to the tint on my screen. As for the feet, Im still messing ith shadintg so hey dont look flat. The reson why theres so much white is because I didnt bother to mak the page smaller on MSpaint, I just opend it p and got to work, lol. And twar, what exactly are you talking about? the buttons on the monitor or sumthing on he com? if your talking about the butons they don work, I already tried em all.

EDIT: Nvm I took your advice ERK and made it a pixle taller and it actually looks better, added shading to the back of heada to. Now I just need to figure out these feet!

Ok, sorry Erk, I didn't know that. -_-; And, mrmepunk, here is a site that will help you tremendously. http://taipan.nmsu.edu/~william/disgaea/disgaeaframe.htm This site has ALL the sprites from Disgaea, and has more Laharl views so you can make a front walk if you need help. Just click around, it will probably help you more than some things can.
And besides, the Vex template is NOT small. This is completely different because you don't have as much space to make things like Val did with the Vex. And another thing, last I remember, Val did not use VEX in Fear of Life, she used another template that WAS based off of the Disgaea sprites, and that was horrible to sprite on.
Sorry that I almost trampled on such a holy template.

The VEX might have been based on Disgaea (albeit Disgaia didn't have mitten hands), but trying to convert the actual rips to a workable RMXP style is completely different.

Also, it's not the whitespace that's the problem- it's the fact that you're using a fucking .bmp!

Well MS paint is all I have to sprite with so sue me. Thx Nightmare for that site, i had already found all the Laharl spritess but the chix will work to so I can make a female template. And dont worry about trampleing on it, I just ignored whatca said and kept on going anyewways, haha! ^_^

Thx Nightmare for that site

Um... I'm Rye... if you were referring to the site I just posted.

I just ignored whatca said and kept on going anyewways

And ignoring people is not a good thing to do, even if they are saying something you'd rather not hear. But, hey, good luck. I'd love to see the final product once you are done. Since I have been trying to make one of these for my own use like forever, it would help greatly.

Lol sry bout that, I meant RYe. XD And I ment I was just gona go aheada and try it and ignore his negativity...lol.

make the foot stick out slightly more to the side so the leg looks a little more diagonal and make the shadow from the front foot come up a little bit since hes putting that foot firward youd see a little of the underneath of his foot.

The GIMP is not advised for sprite art although it's not out of the question.
Arguably the industry standard tool is Pro Motion by Cosmigo.

Using MS paint should also give no hindrance in saving as a .PNG or .GIF two of the more useful file types in terms of pixel art (it goes without saying that .JPEG should be actively avoided)
