I really need some help I have been playing alot of the PSP game "Patapon"
and decided to make my very own patapon type game and i would like some help making it,
so if you are interested in helping, I'm open to basically any opinions and definitely someone to help me make a few scripts.
-it's very hard to explain how the gameplay of patapon, so i am putting this link to a video of a boss battle in patapon, even watching it is still confusing though
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxLpnf7ojwE
-so basically when you do a combonation of buttons in a rhythm it tells your patapons what to do, such as, attack, defend, march forward, retreat, or perform a miracle.
-square = pata
-circle = pon
-triangle = chaka
-X = don
-Attack Song = pon pon pata pon (circle, circle, square, circle)
-Defend Song = chaka chaka pata pon (triangle, triangle, square, circle)
-March Forward = pata pata pata pon (square, square, square, circle)
-Retreat Song = pon chaka pon chaka (circle, triangle, circle, triangle)
-Miracles = (while in FEVER mode) don dondon dondon (X, XX, XX)
-To get into a FEVER mode you have to get a combo of 10 or have hit the buttons perfectly in rhythm 4 times right in a row, you only have five seconds between songs to get a combo.
-Once in FEVER mode your patapons get stronger and take less damage.
-The front line (ax, sword, mace, and knights) all get stronger and deal more damage.
-The middle line (spears, lance) all get a little stronger and they jump in the air and throw there weapons, they also can throw farther and are more accurate.
-The Back line (bow) get a little stronger and shoot three arrows instead of one.
-You will lose a FEVER mode if you don't hit all the button in perfect rhythm, FEVER mode will last forever as long as you can keep up the perfect rhythm, or use a miracle.
-The only miracle i know of right now, since i havent completely finished the game yet is a miracle that allows you to make it rain, which keeps you from taking damage in the desert levels, using a miracle sometimes get really frustrating, it takes me quite some time to hit the buttons right, especially since you can only use a miracle in a FEVER mode so you have to hit the buttons perfectly. But once you finally use the miracle you have to perform a series of combonations of buttons, the more you hit the longer the miracle will last,
-The Rain Miracle is X, XX, XX
then it has 6 series of combos which are
pon pon pon
pon pon pon
pon pon pon
pon pon pon
pon pon pon pon
ponponpataponponponpon
-if there are any more questions on the gameplay please ask and i will explain the best i can.
-Ok, now then some of the features..
here is a video of a minigame that took me hours to figure out lol, yeah it looks simple but its not.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4chmUaBCpTE&feature=related
-it explains exactly what you are supposed to do in the video so i dont want to try and explain, so i'll just say when you finish the minigame good, you get a random item that can be used to make a patapon for your army.
-so saying that, another feature is that you have the option to basically customise and create your own patapons. so for example
the Front line patapons, you can combine any type of rock, and meat and depending on the rarity of the rock and/or meat you choose to use will determine how much money it will cost to make that patapon. Also depending on what you use will determine how rare your patapon is, and the patapon will be a different color based on how rare it is, which is why in my pictures you see a red, purple, and green one, those are rare patapons, and are also stronger and have more life.
-OK now to explain the town of Patapolis.
-In the town there is an area called the alter, all it is, is just a place you can go to to check your money and inventory. nothing else special about it.
-there is also an area that i'm not really sure if it actually has a purpose but it's fun to just sit and watch, it has some trees and a few patapons hanging around and a bunch of patapons dancing around a fire, looks like they are performing somekind of ritual or something, whenever you go out hunting or kill a boss, the animal or the head of the boss is in a big bowl stewing over the fire, which is neat lol.
-in town randomly you will see the princess Medea (she appears all over the place in a different spot everytime you go back to town, you can talk to her and she will tell more information on the next mission. So if you want some more info on the story for the next mission, find her, and talk to her.
-then the only other place in town (besides the minigame areas) is the Obelisk, just a big tower looking thing. If you go to the Obelisk it will show you the world map, where you can pick where you would like to go (hunting spots and missions)
-Once you pick a place you want to go through the world map you will go to another screen where you can place your patapons in an order, switch your patapons up or equip some new helmets weapons and shields. You can have up to six patapons in each of the lines (front, middle and back) total of eighteen patapons.
-In town you can press start to go back to the title screen, press select to save.
-In order to get new weapons and armor for your patapons you have to either find them from creatures and bosses, or later on in the game you will unlock a smithing minigame which you can combine materials you have also found from creatures and bosses to make and customise your very own equipment.
-The money in Patapon is called "Ka-ching"
here are a few pictures that i have come up with so far, let me know what you think.
I added a Square Patapon to change things up a bit
So I decided that a Triangle Patapon looked good too.
