Need some good crits!

Heyow! Ahem... Hello!! I'm here to show some animated battlers used for my team's game... and I need some suggestive comments on them... I'll just show some sprite sheets of them...

So there... Suggestive comments and crits are appreciated! ^_^

Reminders: Theses are just spritesheets, so don't even think of using them on minkoff's system and...... Not for public use... ^_^

Never save a sprite as a jpg. You've created static all over your first sprite by doing so making it harder to look at and harder to crit.

First things first. Way to cluttere. Get a better pallatter, somewhere between 4-6 tones of each colour, and have good varying tones.

It looks like a very bad frankensprite from what I'm looking at, and what is that black bit on the woman in red? It's very distracting and ugly. Go back and look at other sprites for reference, look how folds in skirts and clothing can be created more easily with less colours and less cluttered shading.

Also the axe is way way too flat! More colours if anything in there.

References!

Thanks for pointing them out... fhew, I was even gonna think like your gonna said the "needs shading" again... lol... and I don't know why photobucket turns them JPGed... lol, and I forgot to say that the axe of the red girl is just a placer or something, not really done and not really the complete version... and the "black bit" on her skirt is some kind of a line like I see on some skirts, it's kinda hard to explain... but I didn't know it looks ugly, ehw... hehe, thanks again for the crits! :)

Nah, you won't get the brush off here.

If its some sort of detail, like a lining, then don't make it so thick, it may appear thick on a the real life skirts, but when spriting it's best not to over complicate things.

You have decent spriting skills. Learn to pick your colours and tones right, look at another sprite with parts similar to those of yours and you'll improve in no time. Trust me.

The lines could be cleaned up too, they seem there jagged and messy.

P.S. Photobucket tends to be lousy, I suggest using imageshack.

hmm, your right, I think that black bit should not be too thick if I want that to stay, hehe.

And I'll look for any pallette websites out there to use, again, thanks for the detailed crits! ^_^

Imageshack might also be a good Idea :P.

Heyy... so what specific thing are you trying to tell me? :)

hmm maybe you used it in minkoff's system script, if you did... then it'll not show good since what I showed here is a sprite sheet not a minkoff compiled battler... ^_^

Never, ever use pure black when spriting - her eyes look like they certainly don't belong to the sprite.  Also, the emotions you added are at the wrong angle - the way you drew them suggests  a head-on view and not side-view.

Also: She is twisted in half in her "down" pose - that's gotta be painful.  If she's flat on her back (like the top half suggests), her legs ought to mostly follow course.  If she's facing us (as the bottom half suggests)....well, you get the idea.

oops... your right, the down pose looks kinda nostalgic with both her feets visible when she's supposed to face upwards... lol..

Beside that, I'll take note on the other point you gave, thanks for the crit! ^_^

I know this battler used in battle script.
and I mean battler's movement is just little bit strange.

but I changed my mind anyway. It's not strage now.

it's pose seems very awkward... like.. physically disabled posture <<

side note: I recognize most of the melty blood sprites in ur sig, but whats the one that looks like Arcuied in a long dress with long hair O_o...

Dark_lins: It's actually a dagger, sorry if it looks too strange. >_>

Macaporne:She's Akaitsuki, I'm not really sure, but she possessed Arcueid and used her powers. I actually even made a costume melty blood character of her using her sprite with all costume made poses for MUGEN, and it's done! Wowee.... :)

Sorry for going off-topic I just can't help it talking about my favorite fighting game Melty Blood. >_>

Yeah, costume, she didn't have any other sprites on melty blood besides her Standing animations, cause when you play her, she'll just appear as arcueid, she'll just be using arcueid's body to fight, so I made a costume character for her with costume other poses such as Crouch, walk, backwards, punch etc.

Oh anyway, Back on topic, any other crits? anyone?
