Need help!

Need urgent help!
My speakers are down because I formatted my computer':| . The speakers appeared in the "Unknown Devices" from the Device manager, and when I install the driver "SiS 7018 Audio Driver" (I tried Altec Lansing "HID Audio Controller" too (my speakers are Altec Lansing)) but nothing worked. All I get was code 10(the device cannot start) . My speakers didn't come with a CD for some reason, and from all the steps of the troubleshooter(updated until May 2007) it doesn't work.
~Help will be REALLY, I mean REALLYappreciated.:D
EDIT: I found out that my monitor has a problem too... my screen refresh rate is 1hz

Are you sure your speakers are plugged into the right port? On most PCs, there are three ports for sound devices. One for speakers, one for a microphone, and I'm not sure what the third one is for. Also try the audio driver that came with your motherboard or sound card. As far as I know, spaekers are plug&play, meaning they don't need drivers. Sound cards, however are not. The problem mey infact be with your sound card, and not the speakers.

plugged in the right way. when i get a caution warning, it doesn't play the warning.wav file, it goes "beep!" really loudly. When i tried to boot RPG Maker XP, a dialog box appeared saying "Failed to initialize DirectX audio". Thanks for the idea, I'll check out my Sound Card.

Just quickly, are you using XP or Vista? I can possibly help you with your monitor problem if youre using an XP.

hmm i had a similar problem i pdate my direct x8.0 to 9.0c worked fine but then directxrenderdevice blah blah and directaudio can find blah well i had to reinstall my OS i used a program called DXbuster to redo Direct x but beaware they suck, you probably have to reboot, and or buy a new or current OS x. x

or just get DirectX from the official website. I recommend getting dX 10 if your video and sound cards can handle it.
