need help with online play!!!!!!!!!!

hey guys, I am only 13 and i need help! What do i need help with you ask? well i dont have a clue how to make a game online and i was wondering if maybe some one who does know this kind of stuff could help me out by either giving a tutorial (prefer not) or get my demo and edit it to do so.it would be awsome if you could either send me an email at michaelzierk@yahoo.com or post here and just let me know what you can  do for me. thanks!!!   :thumb:

Hey,

Without sounding like an absolute ass and telling you to just stop, I'm going to try and advice you against making an online game. For one, its very, very, very time consuming and takes a lot more than just yourself. If you can't get the basic online play together there is little to none chance of you being able to customize it to something worth spending time playing. However if you are dead set on trying, search about for NetplayPlus and the relevent guides that are posted on setting it up.

The problem sounds like you are approaching it the wrong way. You are trying to add it to a project, which is just asking for problems.

Start a completely new project (just use the Netplay+ demo), and get that working. If you can't get that working then whatever look for tutorials or something it's relatively easy with Netplay+ 1.x; if you get it working then copy and paste your graphics and data files across into that game (EXCEPT FOR SCRIPTS.RXDATA). Once that's all done copy and paste your scripts, one by one, testing every time for compatability. Once that's done, you have an online game, well done.

well thanks guys i have netplay but i can't seem to get the server up and running... i am not very good at this stuff but thanks for the tips :smile:

ok i have found a new game making engine called eclipse or sumthing like that. i got the server up and running but i cant get the characters onto the server to change their access so i can edit my game. so just forget about the top post. i just need help with this this is probably not the right sight to put this on but if you can please help me.  :thumb:

We don't provide support for eclipse.  That's a different engine.  Go to one of their support forums.

oh alright thanks. by the way i did manage t get the server up and running last night :smile: lol now i just need to get it on my website which i did post in their game site. eclipse is cheap though they took rmxp's graphix! jerks! :sad: i will still use rmxp dont worry lol you guys have a great day. i wont be checking this post anymore either so thank you for your help and bye! :grin:
