Okay, so here's the deal, when my dad streams movies via wireless, they stop and start etc. because of the location of his PS3, bad connection to the router.
So an idea we came up with, is plugging a usb hub into the computer that's next to the PS3, and plugging his External HDD into one port, and PS3 into the other, you might ask why not just plug straight from External HDD to PS3, because the cable isn't long enough, and it's attached to the device, so that's out of the question (It's one of those that needs a powercable too). He's gone out now to buy a 3m cable which is long enough to connect PS3 to PC, but from what I've read just now, it won't work like that.
What I want to try and do, as the idea arose, is plug the usb hub (It has 6 slots) into the PC, then plug the PS3 into one end, and External HDD into the other end. If I do this, will the PS3 be able to pick up the External HDD to play movies?
I hope so, otherwise we're screwed at the moment.
