Nameless pokemon game of fail (hey, it matchs my username!)

Ok, I have decided to try my hand at making a pokemon game! gasp...

In case it isn't blatantly obvious, I do not take this seriously whatsoever.

still working on the name. NO i will not name it pokemon fail.

Plot
you start as the son of a gym leader (sounds familiar) with the goal of taking his place as gym leader.

Features
Ability to become a gym leader and face off against challengers!
All 493 previous gen pokemon catchable!
New generation of pokemon!

IF ANYONE IS GOOD AT CUSTOM SPRITING POKEMON SPRITES, I DESPRATLY NEED A HELP OR AN ASSISTANT SPRITER!!

Please just try it out, and tell me what you think. i know there are a gabillion and one bugs, and i don't mind if you point them out. had you seen this game a month ago, you would know that i have an excuse. i spent a month fixing all the other bugs. kindly refrain from ridiculing me about the bugs though.

NOTE!!!! If you reach the evil team's first base, then kindly excuse the horrendously atrociously horribley made CUSTOM SPRITES OF DEATH!!!! (doom) they are bookmarks sort of for now.

Okay, here's what I can say.
Some of the mapping is a bit lackluster. Also, some of the grammar is a bit off.
Also, I would suggest putting some new walking sprites in. And why does the player start off in a gym? But I suppose that's just me being nitpicky. I like the idea of the "Pokemon Professor" being a kid instead of some old man.
So, yeah. It doesn't look too bad, just like many other games I've seen out there.
By the way, this is Poccil's Starter Kit.

the player starting out in a gym is due to the fact that the Player is the 8th gym leader's son. (gee, doesn't that sound familiar. coughemeraldcough) maybe they should have bought a seperate house, but i think it works this way.

I do agree the mapping could definetly improve, i am trying to get better. the grammar as well.

hopefully, this will one day be considered above average, instead of not bad

Oh, and if you got to the evil team's first base, then please excuse the horrendously awful custom sprites of death.

I can sum this game in one word. FAILURE. It's really bad , and laggy..
Also , for some reason , I already have a saved game.... >.<
Game was confusing , there was passability problems every two steps , no reflection in water , y'know , that sort of thing. And a hell of a lotta bugs. And almost no NPCs anywhere..

the no reflection in water, passability errors, etc.... ya. i know. I am trying to get rid of these. it is really hard though, because pretty much nothing was set passability wise, and that I have no idea how to add water reflections or anything like that...

bugs... what kind?

no NPC's will be worked upon, I just add them as the storyline calls for them, and add them near the end of production. I tend to flesh everything out near the end.

as for the saved game..... crap. i have no idea how that got there. what was the name of the trainer? was it Anson? if it is, it must've saved my saved game when I compressed it...

BUGS: Mainly passibility , should be easily fixed.
SAVED GAME: Yeah , it was anson.
CONFUSION: I randomly wake up in a bed , which I don't even fit , your mum tells you to go outside into prof. thingies , (Was wondering around for ages to find it) after I do find it , I go through 7 "You gained a PokeBall! \n[1] put it in his BALLS pocket." and told to go out on some weird adventure... OMG?

Any idea WHY you want to do this?
Any clue to get rid of the 7 "You gained a pokeball!" things?
any clue how to actually get NPCs that say stuff? (No , seriously , theese are needed. It feels so deserted. :sad: )
Any ideas how to make Prof.'s lab OBVIOUS?
I comand you to make the starting pokemon Water , Grass , Or Fire. It's just the tradition.
Normaly reflections appear automaticly with the water , in most starter kits. Weird.
Change the title , it still has the "Starter Kit" screen. >.>

Also , I take this time to point out that , the prof doesn't know if you're a guy or a girl. Seriously , he has to ask you? Lol... I know this has nothing to do with the game , but still. Lawl.

So finally managed to download this game and it's just as terrible as I expected. I don't have much more to add beyond what Doc Spoc said as I quit soon after leaving town, but I thought you should know this opinion is hardly in the minority. o3o

ya, i agree the plot and plot delivery both need a TON of work. i kinda just threw something together at the last minute. MISTAKE!

pokeball spam: I am searching the notes on how to make it say YOU OBTAIN 7 POKEBALLS!

I tend to add flavor NPCs later in the game making.

I'll change the title as soon as I figure out the name...

I would absolutely LOVE to have the starters be grass fire and water. i actually have a few ideas for made up pokemon. however, if you have gone to the evil team's first base (which i assume you haven't else you would have mentioned it) you would see that I SUCK AT SPRITING! sob. so unless anyone wants to be my spriter, i will be stuck with cacnea, eevee, and ralts.

I suggest you try serebii.net forums. the fan art section has a lot of good 'fakemon' spriters.

OK, I think I am going to make my own sprites. I have been working and practicing, and I think that my current fire starter sprite is nearing the acceptable range...

Perhaps you shouldn't make them from scratch.
Maybe an RTP edit? Should be better.
Or better yet , google A fire , water , and grass pokemon , and just stick the sprities in the game? Should work. Think about it , eh?

well, i'd much prefer to be using original pokemon, so i think i am going to try harder to become a better spriter and eventually be able to sprite enough good pokemon to hold the game.
