I need the public's help. Making a game that ppl like to play, involves using resources that peek their personal interests, right!? So here's the Q...

I can't decide whether or not the secondary character in my game, "Gil" should have wings or not? Gil IS a fairy, so theoretically he SHOULD have wings, but I could always come up with some sort of tragic story about how he loses his wings in a fight to protect his Kingdom or what not, therefore acquiring the possibilty that he doesn't have to have wings. So I created two sprites, one w/wings, and one w/out wings. I need you guys to vote on which makes for a better character, but even more importantly, whether or not to add the tragic story to Gil's background. Keep in mind, that Gil's life has already been tainted with all sorts of problems. Read his background story for more detail. Located in my Projects Thread in "New Projects."

erm...is it a pixie of some sort? Well anyways. If you're gonna have wings they have to be
1. cool
2. evil
3. or else
4. jk

But yea.  from here it looks like the wings would not withstand his body weight and kinda look like they would go on a girl.  Try broading them up a but like a butterfly maybbe?

You could always sort of combine the two - have him have ragged wings, like he was attacked or something. He can't fly because of his damaged wings, but he's still got them (sort of). That'd be an interesting addition to a story.

All right guys, so the majority of you say, modify the wings to look more rugged and slightly evil?
- I'll get on that. Thnx...

EDIT: I have just modified the wing's appearance...
Q #1. Do they look better?
Q #2. Should I make them battle worn?

There's a new entry into the competition!!
- Battle Torn wings are up for vote.

hu uh... those new wings look awkward and too oversized.
i actually liked the first ones better, arnt fairy wings supposed to be slightly feminine anyways?... i dont think ive ever seen a manly fairy wing... :\

@Samboy
- If you're talking about the Battle Worn Wings, there not suppose to fly, and if you're just
  talking about the other ones, Huh?

@Lordnick
- See, I thought the same thing at first, I thought all fairies, either gender had the same
    style, but everyone else saw to it differently...

I'd say lower the position of the wings, and possibly make them a bit pointier, don't know about that though. Right now it looks like they're coming out the back of his head and end mid-back.

If not the pointy suggestion, instead of making them look like tongues which they do now, try them more like butterfly wings. If he can't fly now... well could he before? If so, the size hardly seems like they would support such a ripped man. I dunno though, maybe they'll look perfect if you just lower them down as I said. Give it a go.

It's o.k to have a boy with fairy wings,
and the torn wings look great.
The problem is the 'rambo style' body-
I think fairies are more.. fragile. 2 ideas that may help you-
1. NOT making Gil a fairy, but an other magical creature? (elf, underground pixie, etc)
2.or.. slightly twisting the 'fairy' concept- give him mechanical wings? they'll fit Gil more, and support the 'rambo style' you were going for.

The only reason he has a Rambo style body, is b/c he is the fairy Kingdom's strongest "warrior". There isn't another single fairy in the kingdom, as strong or as highly skilled as Gil is, therefore I thought it would be best to make it as you say "Rambo Style"

There is no way that I'm changing his class, I just cant do that. He is set to be a fairy, and as for the mechanical wings, I just don't see that kind of technology that far back in history...

I think all the problem there is is that the wings are slightly too high on his back, it seems. Looks like they're attached to the back of his head, instead of... well, his back. The battle torn wings look nice, but they're of course too symmetrical (the same rips on both sides)
