My noise.

I've been in a pretty experimental mood for the last few weeks, and in this time I've finally managed after repeated attempts to get into noise - both listening to and making it. A lot of the stuff I've done so far is pretty soft - mostly quiet hissing and crackling - but I've also done two much harsher pieces and intend to do more in the future.

It's a bit harder to critique these than "normal" songs - there are no instruments really, more just texture - but please do critique them if you can (not just "this isnt music!!!!!!!!"). I am trying to get better at this.

harsh
dot
orgasm (feat. two korean girls)

soft
sister
tinnitus (feat. the long island philharmonic orchestra and the choir of st. agnes' church in greenport, long island, new york)
love (feat. despain and wumpi reading the #rmxp userlist)
contortionist (feat. despain eating a bagel and performing the dk rap)
coffee (feat. the soothing sounds of both the international space station and a coffee shop in toronto, and much more)

melodic
imperfect (feat. wesley willis)

ABvst and Sophia from Audiobulb, mainly. I fiddle around with them in FL Studio, recording the output in Soundforge, then layer different stuff, then distort, compress, and generally maim a bit of it. The harsh stuff is pretty much just that too but much more heavily distorted and with more EQ.

My head hurts.

Edit: I generally only like noise music when it's blended with regular music, like the end of Karma Police on OK Computer.

Same, for listening purposes. But I would totally play a horror/art/surrealist game with these in it.

"Love" is hilarious, though.

I quite like some noise and drone, but it's not a genre I'm too open to. My main criticism (not so much criticism as personal preference, really) is that they don't really go anywhere. I suppose I was expecting something more like Muslimgauze or Jesu, or something, layering a lot of noise and a harsh wall of sound over some experimental electronic music with a bit of melody and a degree of (conventional) structure.

You know I love this stuff, and you introduced me to a style of music that has pretty much opened my eyes (ears, XD!!!) and has actually changed the way I look at a lot of things, which is pretty crazy. Your noise has made me look into other artists who work in the genre, so it's pretty cool. The stuff I find strangely relaxing and soothing, despite the initial "OH GOD MY EARS". It provides a really sweet counterbalance to the background noise of everyday life that usually really annoys me.

dot and orgasm are both intense as hell. Of course I'm listening to this with my headphones on and the volume is turned up pretty high, which probably makes them worse than they are. It's almost hard to listen to them all. They're really jarring, in a good way. They don't really relax me as much as the others, but they still have the element that calms me down for some reason. orgasm seems a bit short to be a full track, it seems more like a bumper or in-between song or whatever.

Tinnitus today isn't that great. On its own, it's probably one of my favorites, but today it sounds like a basketball game, and I'm not really feeling it.

sister and love are probably my favorites. The distortion on our voices in love is a little creepy but at the same time strangely soothing. I shouldn't love this shit as much as I do.

contortionist seems weird to me, but maybe it's only because I know that it's my own mouth making that munching sound and it's hard to take seriously. Although granted I haven't listened to that one as much, listening to it again now it seems better than I thought before, since now I'm focusing more on the piece as a whole and less on trying to identify individual sounds. And I guess that is the point of noise in the first place, so A++

Good stuff, I only listened to contortist so far quite good.

Try putting in a bit more texture perhaps but still very good noise.

added two more pieces! in the soft corner, finishing up the ABSTRACT SOCIAL COMMENTARY ON THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF SEX (along with love, contortionist, and orgasm) we have coffee. in the melodic corner we have a finalized version of a track that Bazonga Quest fans will be familiar with - imperfect. it's super layered and ambient and cool i am pretty proud of it.

ok so ive never listened to your stuff before so letsee...

coffee- I liked the overall tone and general sound, it was something I have never been exposed to and its interesting to say the least. It seems a bit too outlandish, if you know what I mean. I take into account this is more so noise than full blown musical composition and that might be why I like it. Towards the middle, however, I found myself a little bored and quickly digressed to Imperfect; ill listen to it again later, perhaps my opinion might change.

imperfect- this sounds really cool. I love overall emphasis of everything building up, plus the backround SE really make this tune engaging. I also enjoy the distortion in the middle leaning towards static, but the static itself was rather irritating. It was certainly differant and it made the sound feel like it was heavily significant of something (I havent played much of Bazonga Quest so I wouldnt know yet) but like you said it is very multilayered and very climactic. Props to that.

Ill be around whenever you want to release more of your stuff; its new to me and I actually enjoyed it overall.
