I've created a monster!...
Ok, it's been a while since I've had a new PC.
While I have a (respectively) good laptop, I wanted a desktop PC that I can bash about on (doing work and shit) which was reasonably high spec (by my standards, at least).
I basically went around the house and raided all the old PCs (I have a LOT, seriously. We have like, five in use, and probably that many lying around dead too).
Spec:
2ghz dual core AMD Athlon 64
Onboard graphics (eww)
2x 1GB RAM (DDR2 667mhz I think)
160 GB Hard Drive (not Sata)
250 GB Hard Drive (Sata)
54mbit wireless G network card
DVD-Rom/CD-RW Combo
DVD-Rom/CD-RW Combo (waiting for a cable)
230 watt PSU
The Sata hard drive was especially troublesome, as I didn't have a Sata connector on my PSU. I stripped the wires off a normal connector and connected a Sata connector to it and whew, it worked.
Windows XP Professional 64-bit
Currently having trouble finding a driver for the network card. Well, fuck. (And no Windows, you can't look on the Internet, duh).
Yay! A new(ish) computer!...
Even if it is lower spec than everything else in the house.
