My game lags like heck, should I get a vitual memory or a graphics card?

Ok I'm going to be honest, I don't know much about computers so please don't laugh, so I am going to ask you guys. Lag in the game may be caused by a number of things including your computer. My question is what should I get so my computer (including RPG XP) lags less? A graphics cards or a virtual memory thingy. I have a few extra bucks and my computer is kinda crappy what should I get so the game and my computer in general is less laggy?

EDIT: I just realized I posted this in the wrong section, can a mod please move this?

Just ask for a simple 512 RAM stick. They'll ask you "what kind of computer do you have?" usually, and by this they mean what company manufactured it. If you made your computer custom like me, then you'll need to know what kind of motherboard you have.
You need to know what type of RAM you need. Different motherboards use different kinds of slots to insert RAM into, and therefor, RAM companies make different sorts of RAM chips to fit into them.
If you have something like DELL, Mac, Gateway, Compac, then you'll need to tell them that, and if you're not sure, then you'll need to open up your computer and take out a piece of RAM from your computer and take it to the store.
Remember to make sure your fingers arnt staticy when you touch anything, and that the power cord is unplugged. Static destroys electonics.
You'll see little pins on both sides of the RAM chip.
(if you dont know what RAM looks like, google image it)
Press down on these pins until the RAM ejects itself. Sometimes you need to press down hard. Don't worry. You won't damage the RAM. RAM is extremely durable. You can carry it in your front pocket if you want.
