Ummmm ... I think I might have to be the jerk here.
If it's the first artistic thing you've ever done, more power to you, but one cannot better their self if they get no constructive criticism.
Firstly, it looks like you edited a frankensprite, saved it as a loss-heavy jpg (possibly at 70% size reduction), then converted it to a PNG. You can see the artifacts around the dark outlines and remnants of a white background around the hair. This is a big no-no. It should always stay a PNG, and never be converted to anything else.
Secondly, I have no idea what the fuzzy grey/red thing is on his arm.
Thirdly, the colors are very muddy, probably due to the JPG thing I mentioned above. I can't quite tell what's going on.
I recommend some of the pixeling tuts here in the Academy, and also read up on JPG and PNG file formats to better understand them and how they affect your picture.
