My first go at a MIDI

What software are you using now?

I've always liked the Midisoft products.

Finale is the 'gold standard', but it's expensive.

There are also a bunch of free / cheap midi sequencers available.

Fruity Loops seems to be pretty popular with both 'readers' & 'non-readers'

That's pretty good. What kind of area would it be played for? Because if it is for a battle, then it seems a little slow.

I'm using Finale Notepad, which means I can only have 4 pages and 8 instruments...
