My artwork (Observational)

OK!! Basically when it comes to drawing from the top of my head I don't do very well, but sometimes I do, but when it comes to observational drawings I can do it really well, but I do tend to change details inside them, all the pictures were drawn on paper and I just took a picture of them and try and ignore the comments that a certain *someone* had to write

1: Here's the reference (click) and below is the one I drew

You can draw good but, you need a scanner. And if that was a scanner then get another one cause it looks horrible. But, great job on all of them (especially the anime girls..). Sometimes you got the angle of the footings wrong so work on that.

Yeah I know I hate feet >=[

And I do have a scanner, but at the moment it ain't working so I couldn't use it and for some reason the pictures didn't come out right when I took the pictures either

And Devon if you really want to know what it says

*wink*
*wink*
Turn of the lights for a mo.......
Hey I didn't say turn them back on yet
Oh er.....I wasn't....
Just stop reading XD

Yeaaa I remember the olde days when I too did not have a scanner and had to use a camera and find perfect lighting with the perfect flash and still awaited the day when I could save up and get a scanner....

Anyway, copying by eye will help you to be able to take the next step and use your own imagination and recall to make your own pictures. Keep it up, I can't wait for your next step!

if you say outright that you didn't trace them, it means that you did.

man i havent heard of anyone actually tracing shit since like fourth grade. congratulations.

Whatever man, I kinda did expect that from you O_o

And the only reason I said I didn't trace it was because half the I know think I traced them and they saw me draw it some people are just weird, plus I don't think you can trace  on the computer screen O_O

It is actually easier to trace on a computer screen...

Both ways, I mean, if you are using paper, then you slap the image up on the monitor, put the paper on it and it is already well lit from behind.  It makes it easy ^_^

On the other hand, if you were to do what I have done to make anime characters (such as my avvy for example) you take a pic of yourself, stick it in photoshop, add a layer above that and then trace the basic outlines of the person.  That is how I drew the shape of my face (which, oddly enough looks exactley the same as my avatar ^_^  just the hair is different ^_^)

I have a wacom too... I guess that could make a difference in that kind of tracing, but yeah... ^_^  it can be done ^_^

You may wanna try copying from real life, instead of other illustrations. I think you'll be able to grow quicker as an artist that way. Also its easier to develop your own style.

A.) if ur drawing from observation, there is a stark difference between Drawing from a life refrence and drawing based on someone else's art. Draw from life. Observational drawing from anime is just .... meh.

B.) the poor scan quality makes it even harder for my scratched cornia to interperate it. (I got attacked by a dog this weekend)

(that better zeph)

((You forgot B))

No, seriously, though. They are absolutely right. I like some of your work up there, but! ((But is a big word here)) I believe that if you're drawing somebody else's drawing, it almost as bad as tracing. My advice is to come up with the style you feel comfortable with and enjoy doing. From that, you can do whatever you want. Then, drawing somebody else's drawings in your own style is practice and not plagiarism. So try drawing somthing from your head, without looking at anything. It will probably look like crap ((the first one usually does)) but it will make things more yours.

((The whole paragraph could have been a sentence saying "do your own work" but yeah))
