Movie's Made In RMXP

If I were to make a movie using RMXP (ie- all events and no gameplay), would it be looked down upon? I have an idea for one but I don't wanna continue with it if it's just going to be shunned =D[/FONT]

I believe there have actually been questions asked about this before. Next time try and use the search feature =)

Anyway, I doubt it would. Maybe by some people, but not all. I myself have an RMXP series, all events, no gameplay. Check out the banner in my sig if you want. I have a big fanbase too. It all depends on if you can exicute it and make it great. If you just have almost blank maps, no plot, bad dialogue, then it would be bad. I can't say I'm an expert on all that, but still. If you have a good combination of everything, you could create a great movie. It all depends on how well you pull it off.

It surely works but, relative to playable rpgs, they are harder to pull off effectively without getting boring. Just make sure you have some quirks that offer refreshments. If you don't think you are very experienced in RMXP and creative effects, I'd suggest leaving the option off for now.

I know everyone'll string me up high for this but I found Nadir's Cannon a little boring.

If you want to make a movie with a game maker, make it interactive. As in:

Hero has a conflict.
Hero has to make a choice.
User can change Hero's choice.
The movie goes into a different branch based on choice.

It would take more work than a straight-shot movie but it'd feel interactive and that's much better than just hitting "start" and watching a bunch of little text scroll by. I'd rather just watch a movie made with the Sims 2 or something that shows more facial expressions and emotion if it's gonna be an amateur movie.

Agreed, but it's popular. And in the magical world of RPGs, popularity trumps boringness. Look at Final Fantasy!

Touche sir! :D However when I think of things made through RMXP I'm assuming some level of interactivity. A movie played out through characters lacking a voice, facial expressions, body language regardless of how interesting the story is, has a terribly hard time capturing my attention. Sorry.

I hope you do go through with it because I know there're others that will enjoy it Yivyn.
