Mog

Mog Charset

Good day, I somehow dislike the Mog charset already out there. So I tried to do one of my own and let you guys feedback on it.

I know I have to change a bit the wings btw...

Please let me know your thoughts on this please

Except for two things I like it. Better than most other mog/moogle sprites I've seen (and that goes for you two Square!).
1) the wings, yeah. I've always pictured bat like wings, but it looks like the fairy template/wings, so yeah good idea to change a bit on them, as you already said.
2) Make the pompom move. Sway. Move it a pixel higher on the 2nd idle (the third frame), and a pixel down from what it is now on the stepping frames. Though not done enough, sway makes a sprite look a lot better.

His face is a bit red.

This is my absolute favorite Moogle design. He doesn't look retarded like the Pre-FF6 Moogles, but aren't as humanized and cultured as the post FF8 Moogles.

The nose is a bit smaller than you've draw, and the wings are bat like. However, aside from that and the fact that your Moogle is a bit too grey, the shape of the body is excellent.

I like it...though I do agree that bat wings would make him look better, and maybe positioning the pom pom thingy over his face would make it a little better too.....

Of course, I told you guys I knew I had to work on the wings, it says so on the post. Bat wings are Moogle's ones.

And the pom pom will be moving, it's just that this is version 1 and I needed the feedback on basic stuff.

The color... hmm... I say it can be a tad whiter, but not too much, as it would make him look too bright.

Thank you guys

In what way are the FF9 moogles "humanized"?
Anyway, it looks pretty good, though perhaps a bit small. Maybe my perspective is just off, but it doesn't really seem to be big enough to mesh with the RTP characters. Either way, it's always nice to see Final Fantasy-based characters that aren't Cloud.

"Moogles are fairies, they feel life everywhere" Eiko

Yes, they are supossed to be small, like an RTP fairy, not an RTP charset, there's a mog out there, kid sized. The main reason I did this.

Ugh I can't find a good Moogle character set anywhere. So glad your trying to do one.

I like the style of the moogle Prexus posted, but I also really liked FFXII moogles. (Too bad they didn't play a bigger part)

Yeah moogles are meant to be small. You wouldn't want it RTP sized (like sithjesters), but you wouldn't want it too small or it would be hard to fully appreciate.

Can't wait to see it with new wings.

Sithjester I hope you see this. I absolutely loved all of your sprites, with one exception. That exception being the moogle. Everything else you have done is delicious :D

Ugh... I don't mean to upset anyone, I'm just giving RMXP users a new option... just in case...

Anyway, Anglachel, thanks for the support, you obviously understand what I'm going for.

One note, the full result on this after feedback won't be posted... yet, until the release of my game. But some of you guys might receive courtesy copies because you helped out. (like nice Ang ;) )

And! Sijj inspired me onto making this mini mog :)

This site just makes it harder and harder for me to want to keep my resource site up...

I'm confused, Sithjester. Your sprites are great, and I'm sure they're plagiarized all the time, but this moogle doesn't look anything like yours.

I like this moogle, I can't say much about it that hasn't already been said XD.

(And for the record the FF9 moogles are my favorites)

I can say that sijj gave me the idea of a mog... but I didn't copied any of it... I did it completely from the Fairy temp and thinking of FFIX

Ok, you guys.... I have mog version 2... and this one looks really cool... it's in the OP, but if you don't fell like checkin here it is

Nearly there. I have no problems with the wings.

The pom pom is good, but it looks badly arched, try to smooth that out a bit by making the curve more, curvier (?) I guess. It looks stiff, like the antenna is moving, not bobbing. Instead of looking of looking like a strong but whimsical like antenna, that sways, it looks like an ant's, that is independently moving instead of reacting. The curve looks a bit stiff pass the bend - too straight, but still passable that you know what's going on, it doesn't look wrong or bad, just slightly off. Perhaps moving the pom and/or curve a pixel inward would remedy this.

Eyes are cute, looks angry heh but match many of the depictions in some of the FFs, I like the old eyes, but that's not to say I don't like these ones either.

I tried a moogle once, for practice but mine was a complete embarrassing mess. Good work.

They wore clothes and had individual personalities. Every one of them had a unique name, and they communicated and traveled and had adventures.. How is that not humanized?

The FF5 Moogles ran around in a forest aimlessly all day. The FF6 ones did it in a cave. Mog was supposed to be a special Moogle with the ability to interact and communicate with humans.

Okay thank you! I'll work on the pompom a bit more, and the antenna holding it as well...
