Moderator Applications Now Open

Since we haven't hired any new mods in a while, we decided to open applications. If you want to be a mod, you should meet the following criteria:

• Be even-tempered, impartial, and professional when arbitrating disputes or disciplining users.
• Regularly make good posts in the forum(s) you want to moderate.
• Have been active on the site for a while.
• Be able to improve the site in some way.

The boards are generally well behaved, so we're looking for leaders and ideas people more than janitors. You can volunteer to mod whatever boards you want, but we're especially interested in someone who wants to work with the projects forums.

PM your application to me. Do not post it here! We'll be discussing all the applications amongst ourselves in private.

Anyway, here it is:

1. Why do you want to be staff?

2. Which forum(s) are you interested in moderating, and how active are you in them?

3. What relevant expertise or experience do you have that makes you a good choice for your forum?

4. What ideas do you have for improving your forum, or how would it benefit from your oversight?

5. What are your thoughts about the direction of the site, and do you have any ideas for improving it?

6. Are there any other reasons you should be a moderator?

7. Have you ever been known by any other usernames on this site?

We're hiring as many people as we get good apps, up to a point, so there's no set number. Anyway, good luck to everyone!

I just got asked if there's a deadline. There isn't a set deadline, but it'll probably be a week or two. Depends on the apps we get.

After reviewing the applications, we've decided not to appoint any new mods at this time. Most of the applicants got a no because they weren't active or weren't active in the forums they wanted, so if you want to be a mod, the most important thing you can do is make good posts in the forums you want! We may revisit the idea of modding someone in a few months.
