MMO for Macs?

I just purchased a new iMac for school and I was wondering if anyone knows any free MMOs for Mac.
I tried that Second Life thing and wasn't feelin it so I could use some help finding something good to play.
Also, please don't post saying "Put Windows on your Mac." or "Emulate Windows." or anything. I get that everywhere I go.

Thanks.

Awesome Bro

I'm sorry for going against your rules of posting like this, But if you get a MAC, You've made the wrong decision for gameplaying. MACS are aimed for design, Composing, Word processing & organisation. They're just not gaming machines (Even though they have some great potential inside to do so :()

thats pretty cool. Personally i quit playing all mmorpgs, relised it was a big waste of time. i got a high lvl character and guess what.....there was nothing left to do. Spent like 5 months for something that i didnt even really want. Just go read a book or something. Worth alot more.

Just install bootcamp, and then you can install Windows and play any game you want.
Thats what I do, I do all my design in mac and then assemble my games in rmxp on windows!

the dude asked for a FREE MMO. not everyone can afford to play WoW

?6 to buy the game isn't exactly breaking the bank now, is it? Not to mention the ?9 per month is going towards more content for YOU to enjoy, and even if people really are that tight there's
Private servers run by pirate websites, but hey that's against Blizz's ToCs, now you wouldn't want to violate them now would you.....

EDIT: Lol Lackluster!

you could just get a duel boot so you can use a pc on your mac aswell. I dont recomend free ones. Usually they have some crazy online store that you buy extra exp from or insane upgrades for weapons. You will be tempted to buy and you prolly will. If you;re gonna spend money, i suggest you get WoW one time. Its worth more than any free mmorpg online store. Or guild wars or something.

what! $18/m going towards more content for YOU to enjoy is kindof bad reasoning when a) $18/m could go towards more food for YOU to eat (and not die (won't somebody think of the koreans)) and b) some people might not like the content the $18/m is going towards. i find WoW mediocre and really not worth the money compared to something like, say, EVE Online. or a pizza!

other than private servers and Runescape the non-paytoplay MMO market is sadly barren. everyone wants money and most free MMOs are mad boring (most MMOs are boring but free MMOs seem to have more copious amounts of boring).

when i was a kid i used to play MUDs a lot but most of the good ones (Gemstone III, The Eternal City) have since shifted to pay-to-play. there are still a few not-that-bad ones out there though (i played Achaea briefly a few months ago and it was fairly interesting) so if you're up for OLDSCHOOL GAMING that won't require you to shell out $300 for new hardware (not like you could on a mac anyway hohoho) then i'd suggest checking some out.

I've owned, and I own and run, daily, both a Mac and a PC. I happen to be of the opinion that Macs are simply better machines overall. However, what they do lack are games. And that's not Apple's fault... Many gaming companies do not and have not produced games for Mac because the Mac:PC ratio was too small to make it profitable.

However, Macs are starting to gain popularity, and I think we'll start to see a shift towards duel game releases - for PC and Mac.

Until then, Boot Camp really is a neat product, and works pretty flawlessly... If you want to be impressed by the speed of Windows XP, run it on a Mac. I don't think you can get a free download of the Beta version anymore, but Leopard comes with it installed. I use VMWare Fusion, and gaming is not so great on it (though I've only played one game using it).

(Oh, and whoever said that Macs are good at word processing is wrong... Macs really do kind of suck when it comes to that)
