MMA Original Music Resources

I'm just going to start posting all my music in this topic instead of remaking a new topic every time.  Any of my songs here you find suitable to use, feel free, but first you must PM me and let me know you are going to be using them and in what project.  Also, as always, give credit where credit needs to be given.
:thumb: C&C would be nice too. :thumb:

All of my songs are in mp3 format and I try to make them loop as best as I can.

Where Air and Earth Meet
A little theme I wrote with some sitar in it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Merchant Square
I'm thinking a very peaceful town, maybe a market place.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blood and Steel
A war/battle song is what I had in mind for this one.  On both sides heroes die.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Victory is Illusion
Also here is a redone version of my song titled "Blood and Steel," re-edited by Sir Lord Biowulve.

Underwater
For lack of a better title, I call this one Underwater.  Of course it could be used for many other things, but that is what I had mind.

@Mascarpone: I apologize, I didn't realize the hosting was that bad, maybe you can recommend a better site?
Edit: I changed the hosting site to box.net, so I hope that helps with whatever the problem was.

@Sir Lord Biowulve: Wow, thats an awesome re-edit, I think I'll put it up here with your permission.

That underwater one is beautiful!

I love it!http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l283/ultimaodin/whistle.gif[/img]

I'm not a huge fan of the other two though. They sound, scratchy almost. Do you use a violin in them?

Eitherway all three beat the shrapnel out of anything I could compose!http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l283/ultimaodin/Ashamed.gif[/img]

In Blood and Steel I use "Violin Detached" which is basically just a quick swipe across the string for the given note giving it a staccato feel.  In a way it is scratchy I guess you could say.

The other one, Victory is Illusion is a re-edit of Blood and steel by Sir Lord Biowulve.  He gave it a different feel than I thought it could have, but I kinda like it  :thumb:

Well Ive already told you I like your tunes alot, its something great to hear. I always love another good musician's songs, especially on an forum like this.

Underwater sounds really malotic and smooth, it is a pretty song. The other two are good as well but I like that one best.

Likewise!  I think we feed off each other instead of it being a contest.(unlike some people here *COUGH* shownomercy77 *COUGH*)

P.S. I'll be putting up some more songs shortly after I finish converting them, so yay.

Ahhh, I love Blood and Steel. It's not exactly upbeat and the melody doesn't stray too far, but in this case its traditional and very dramatic.

Underwater sounds a LOT like Aquatic Ambiance from Donkey Kong Country...It's freaking amazing work.

Your music is very high quality sounding in terms of instruments. And you have a technique well suited to the style.

I want MORE! <3 <3 <3

Believe it or not, they are all free soundfonts I've found traversing the net.  Of course I have to manipulate them quite a bit but the end result is satisfactory  :thumb:  I'm really glad you like them!!!!  Thats my goal, to please people's ears with music, and more is on the way I'm writing stuff now.

Let me start by saying, I don't know how to write or read a single note of music and I'm not claiming to.  However, I have listened to so much music over the years for my projects that I think I begin to hear when something suits a scene.

The thing for me about your music for me, you come up with some really lovely hooks that I think are perfect to fit in a game but then by midway the song has changed to less of a scene-setting BGM and more into an actual song people would perhaps listen to.

For example, Seraphims opening for about 40 seconds is really nice and would fit a final dungeon perfectly, but then it gets too intense and would be too much in the forefront.  I think BGM's work good when people don't necessarily realise they are listening to them but instead are creating this really vivid setting the player is in.  That first 40 seconds could just be the basis of the whole song but with subtle changes to make it more interesting and it would work far better.  I notice it is supposed to have heavenly connotations and it does so brilliantly.  Listen to the first 40 seconds and immediately I can imagine traversing a final dungeon in a typical JRPG where god is the last boss but I can't help but feel the intense beats make it useless for a BGM, even though it's futuristic or whatever.

So, from my opinion (who knows nothing about music :P) if you just kept your songs a little more simple they'd be a lot more versatile and useful in game creation.  You definately have a talent for using the right instruments and creating original melodies.

Oh thanks for your input.  I get what you are saying...it is just soooooo hard to keep it simple, I always tend to try and make it a bit more progressive than it needs to be.  You've found my weakness!  I'm trying to work on it though, can you hear a difference from Merchant Square(which I finished yesterday) and Seraphim(which I wrote a year and a half ago)?  I'm trying to make them more game friendly, but still keep my own touch too it...something thats tricky to do!

Yes I can, I also understand why it's hard to keep a song simple for the purpose of use in game.  it takes much longer to make it than to listen to it so it's easy to get bored hearing the same thing over and over whilst your writing it.

Ironically enough, the only bit I'm not keen on with the merchant square is the intro.  It seems a little off beat or something - I can't really explain it but something seems off.  When the main melody comes in, the tune seems a lot more consistent.

I think you definately have the potential to be a really good composer.

Well thank you!   The beginning to merchant square, well you've it hit it on the spot, kinda.  Well it still stays in the 3/4 time but the notes being played in each measure are being plucked differently.  I was trying to get that realistic feel of the guitar being plucked with fingers, because a lot of the time(especially in celtic and some folk music) the pattern being played isn't always right on the beat but still stays in time.
