Minor help with sprites please in RMVX!

I have two questions regarding sprites if someone could be so kind to help me out.


1. I recently implemented the side battle system script into my game and it seems I need to modify the default VX sprites to work properly with it. The default sprites come in files that include 8 to a file. I was wondering the best way for me to modify it and cut it down to 1 so it's compatible with the SBS script. Would that answer be as simple as photoshop?

2. I also recently imported all of the sprites from RPGXP into my RPG VX game. The sprites from RPGXP do not work, why? Is there a way I can somehow make them work?

Thanks in advance for all help and suggestions, I am completely new at this. I'm just a writer/character developer. >_< All this other stuff is a pain(but interesting to learn)!

So I do not need to modify it at all except for renaming the file? How will it know which of the 8 sprites to choose?

I dunno, I tried renaming it with just a $, I also used !$ like you suggested. I did not modify the contents, just the name.

Although all that I just said was related to making the SBS script function.


I tried renaming them for the answer to my second question(since you didn't specify which you were answering) and it changed the size of the selection block...but now, instead of being too small for the XP sprites, it was too big and would include one entire sprite and part of another.

Little help please.
