One of my favorite video games ever is actually getting a movie, and check it; it doesn't look like absolute shit. I don't know how many of you cats have ever really played Max Payne or really got into it, but by God, it's awesome. I'm not sure if it's the Bullet Time, the spot on black noir graphic novel feel, or the plain good game behind it all, but Max Payne, and especially Max Payne 2 are really fucking awesome games, so awesome in celebration of the new movie, I'm playing through both gems.

The trailer is looking really hardcore, especially to me, someone who enjoys the game heartily. Max Payne is going to be played by Mark Wahlberg, which is cool from an acting perspective, he's a pretty decent actor. But since Wahlberg hasn't been in too many BLOCKBUSTER movies, I'm hoping that this one is going to be his lucky break for real.

I thought Wahlberg was a very odd choice. He looks decently like the VG character, but he has too much of a "niceboy" look and air about him. He doesn't have any of the rough, angry thing that the character's supposed to be about IMO. But he's an alright actor, I guess.

I wasn't terribly impressed by the trailer but I seldom am when it comes to VG-to-movie translations. It always feels like a waste to get hyped about them anymore.

Im pretty excited for this movie. I just hope that if they decide to do a scene with bullet time, it won't be as cheesy as the first person scene in the Doom movie.

Have you seen Perfect Storm, Ven? Although Wahlberg has a distinct "boy" mannerism he did seem a bit more rough and tumble then he has in other movies (the lolppening.)

I think that despite the fact he doesn't match Max Payne's physical build, he should do a very good job of the movie. (Payne is bulkier and probably a bit shorter.)

Nearly every review said it was shit.
Many called it 'Max Painful'
Apparently, everything about it is bad.

Well, it's a video game movie NOT made by Uwe Boll, so that gives me a reason to watch it.  Previews made it look interesting, so... I might watch it... er... somehow... >> <<
