map error

I keep getting trouble with building maps in rpg maker xp with walls and stairs, sometimes when i want to make a stair, the stairs block the character at when I try to walk up the stairs, and sometimes he can just walk trough walls, i try to delete that section and built it again but that doesnt seem to work, anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Are you using a custom tileset? If so you need to edit the passability and priorities for it to look as it should.
If not, read below.

If you made a map with one tileset, then changed the tileset and made it again, this might cause this problem. The only solution I have yet found out is to delete the map and re-create it.

If your using custom tilesets or a new one you have to go into the database and configure its passability
