Making a tileset

If you make your own tileset, how would you make an auto tile?
Is there any kind of guide out there or anything?

An autotile is a separate piece from the tileset. There's loads of templates out there that block out where tiles should go (ie, middle repeating piece, edges, etc.) As for how to make one - I personally can't find a tutorial here, but it's not very difficult - look at the ones that come with the game for examples.
