Major Help With Screen Fading & Text Location

Yeah...to sum it up...Im an RPG Maker XP noob...

Ive been able to grasp the basics, such as variables, switches, and such...but there are other questions I have that I havent been able to find answers to...

1. How do I make my entire screen fade, you know, like to set up a cutscene and what-not

2. How do I change where my text appears? kinda like in the music video for that game Quintessence (that I found on this site)

Id appreciate any help you guys can give (even if its not related to these two questions) and all tips would be helpful

For the screen fading, use the screen tint option and turn the screen entirely black. For text, you could use text options using events and choose although it's limited.

thank you...I also wanted to know, What are Panoramas for?

They're for backgrounds on maps. On blank tiles, you see the panorama instead of nothingness.

Well if you leave a first layer tile blank, the panorama shows up there...

right, right...but how do I insert the panorama in the first place.

Second event page, -> Change Map Settings -> Panorama Graphics -> Choose. Or you can set a default panorama for a tileset for every map that uses that tileset, in the tileset tab in F9.

And as for the text thing, in the video it was done by showing pictures. (Saving the text with a transparent background in photoshop and then showing it as a picture via Show Picture function on 2nd event page.)
