Welcome to HBGames, a leading amateur game development forum and Discord server. All are welcome, and amongst our ranks you will find experts in their field from all aspects of video game design and development.

Made from GP5

It's been about 3 months since I started music composition. Well, I'm not a music lover, in fact I found music really boring. But for the sake of game development, I need to learn so.. I'm trying hard...  :dead:
So I asked a friend about a good music composition software and he reccomend Guitar Pro. I eventually bought from a music store and tried it but.. OMG!! It's COMPLICATED!!
So I just search over the net till I found ACID Pro which suits me better.
I have made 4 compositions from it..

But after I gone through several forums, I've read a lot of comments about Guitar Pro and all of em are positive. So out of curiosity, I spent a whole day just to make use of it and...

Here is my 1st attempt: Sunrise Wind
It's quite short because it's not yet finished.

This one is just a remake of my 2nd composition: Holy Light
Nothing seems to change though.. XD

If you want to critic, then go!
I'll be back after 2 days to respond.

I'm not sure about this but just in case you want to use it for your game, you are more than welcome. Same rules: credit me.

Well, thanks for listening.
Hope you like it..

Bump!! FS! Did I speak below the belt or aired a lot? Sorry, I didn't mean to...

Because it happens that I met a musician in a mall while I was about to buy FL then he told me that PIANO ROLL is just for unskilled hopeless people AND THAT WORD FROM HIM struck me so badly, so my day was ruined.

Please give me some response. I need it to help me improve.

- Thanks -

Well first of all i'd like to say that people like that piss me OFF. I'll be honest and say that I found pianoRoll pretty weird at first and didn't use it but afterward I grew into it and been composing with it ever since. I assist my creativity with a keyboard, but all modifications happen on PR afterward. It's what you feel comfortable with, not what people think is the most professional way or whatever.

However, your theme "Sunrise", is pretty good. Sounds like those themes in anime computer games.
Nothing overboard, and very balanced and brings the mood out clearly. Good work! :thumb:

Yeah, now that you mention it, Shizu, it does have an anime-ish feel to it. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It has a really nice beat. Almost makes up for being so short =\ That's the only complaint I have for that one.

Holy Light seems to be a theme centered around the feeling of "hope" or something of the sort. Kinda sounds like that at the beginning, then transitions into kind of an overworld map theme, then back into the softer sound. I like it =D

I really don't know why people like that exist, but the least I can do is just to ignore them.
Not that I can't read musical notes.(I had taken lessons regarding musical notes to be a pianist)

I rather had chosen piano-roll for it's convenience because it's easier to use and less time consuming..
Didn't they know that piano-roll is one of the ultimate feature of the best DAWs throughout the globe, such as Cubase and Ableton Live?
Oh well, those people can't be helped..

Well, I didn't meant to make it anime-ish, It's just I'm really in a good mood when I made that song..

Don't worry, as soon as possible, I'll finish it for you.

Overworld map?
Umm... Honestly, I had made it to serve as an ending theme.
Do you think that will suit to it? ^_~

Thanks guys, for your posts. I'm really glad that you like my compositions.
I'll be uploading more musics till the last drop of these 2 soundtracks I'm currently working..

- Hoping that my songs helps cheer up my listeners, somehow. -

Yeah, makes sense. It's too soft to serve as an overworld map.

Wishing you were done with those other songs right about now. =\

hey interesting ive never really thought bout using guitar pro for composition
i cant listen to your tracks yet coss my soundcard isnt working lol
will do when i can tho
one suggestion
if youre not big on music and arent that interested in being good at it but still wanna compose
i dunno if youve done this already but if you use the scales tool and choose a scale itll show you on the fretboard which notes fit the scale
so you can use all the weird and wonderful sounding scales without knowing how they work
