Machinima - the use of real-time graphics-rendering (usually, game) engines, mostly three-dimensional (3-D), to generate computer animation.
In other words, Machinima is a style of movies, shows, and funny clips that are created using any kind of pre-existing engine, the most popular being those of a video game, such as Halo or Call of Duty. Machinima is also the name of a popular company that posts a lot of user created content such as commentary, game trailers, Let's Plays, strategies, and, of course, Machinima.

A good example of classic Machinima
What're you guys' opinions of Machinima? I'm talking both the company that does commentary and gameplay videos and the movies people make using games.
I've enjoyed a few of the commentators (Seananners, Hutch, and Tejb in particular), and several of them I don't find as enjoyable. I guess it's something I can turn to, since there's a lack of people that'll talk seriously with me about gaming around my home, and it's nice to get people's opinions on various things in the gaming world.
Besides; some of Machinima's LP's are the best I've seen.
On the more theatrical side of things, I've only found a few series that I enjoyed; the best Machinimas are the oneshots like The Salesman Ultimatum. Arby and the Chief could be amusing at times but too much of the humor was reliant on Microsoft Sam's voice.
(=( just seen jbrist's topic below this...sorry bout that.)
