In 2006 I began work on Luna. An RPG following the story of a young man named Jonas and his mentor Sherra on a quest to save the world from total destruction.

Many years ago Bruja, an evil and powerful sorcerous, seized control of the entire world. Her end goal is cast a powerful spell that would have the moon crash into the planet and destroy all of mankind.

To complete this project, I've decided to take it back to the very beginning.
How did Bruja rise to power?
What events set the stage for this catastrophe?

This is that story.

Story-1_zps880d2586.png

"It's all my fault.

What started as wild rumors of dark sorcery and death became a terrifying reality when a mysterious group known as Dos Lunas appeared. They spoke of the end of days, a catastrophe so great nothing would survive. They believed mankind was to blame and so began the Great War. Thousands lost their lives and in this dark time and all of mankind joined together as one to stop this terrible force.

Their armies were no match against Dos Lunas' powerful magic. In their desperation, a small group was sent to locate the Mago, a race of sorcerers who have lived in isolation for thousands of years. With the help of their powerful magic, they thought they could stand a chance.

They were wrong."

SARAHUnknown_zps3cd723a5.png

A strong spirited and gifted young Mago. She is known in her community as a magical prodigy. While talented in magic, her people do not believe in using their abilities in battle and so she is highly unskilled in combat. She forms a close bond with Torres.

Claudiapost_zpsfeb573a7.png

Sarah's younger sister. They are very close and always together. She is one of the rare Mago who cannot use magic. When Sarah leaves town with Torres, Claudia sneaks out and follows them.

An older and more experienced warrior, he is part of the group sent on a mission to find and locate the Mago and ask for their assistance in the war. He acts as mentor to Sarah and trains her in combat.

This is where I'll post old resources, sketches and other things related to the development to this game and the original Luna project.

There is much more to come.
Stay tuned kiddos. Gonna be beefing this up daily.

Hey man, I like your style. Stubby and Bruja look really unique characters. And just a small thing but that menu looks sufficiently Final Fantasy enough without being Final Fantasy. :thumb:

2006, have you got very far? Or is this one of those obsessions that gets remade and remade over and over (not that I do this... :shades: )

It is one of those constantly remade obsessions. I think the only good to come of that is that I've been essentially building a world in my head for 6 years so I have a very good idea of what this world is.
As for this version, I'm still in the early stages but am trying to cut out some old bad habits and get this in gear.

I hope I am not necro-posting on this but I was wondering if there has been any progress made on it. I like the concept and the screen shots and really would like to play this one.

Been slowing making some progress. I work 40+hours a week so I haven't had a lot of time to update the topic. I've got a video I've been meaning to post for a few days. Just the intro cinematic so I'll probably post it shortly.

Thanks for the support.

UPDATE: Game is still in progress. Working on creating new graphics (tilesets, sprites, etc.)

The game format has also been slightly reworked to allow for faster development. The story will be split into multiple episodes to allow me to focus development on specific portions and plan out the game better.

Any artists or writers interested in helping out, please contact me. This is too big a project for me to do alone.

Keep at it! Consider releasing your multiple episodes each by episode. This will give you encouragement to keep working (as you will be getting real feedback and the satisfaction of game release will come periodically instead of all at once.) If you're concerned about the game being too hard to create, publishing it episodically will help very much.

It's very very possible you will not be able to recruit a talented spriter to your team. Since you already sound very busy, I would not recommend you learn to make the graphics yourself. Instead, I would simply rely on minor edits. It's better to release a game made in RTP than to never release a game with full custom graphics.

After quite some time away I'm back.
As usual with this sort of thing, progress on this project halted for a while. The project is something very important to me and quite large in scope and something I hope to eventually get out into the world. While I slowly start work on this once again, I thank the many people who have viewed this topic and the few who have commented.

JJF: please take a bit more time on your posts, especially in peoples' project threads. You're posting way too quickly to be reading things thorough enough to comment on them.
