Lucian [Yggy] vs. Jake [eebit]

"Welcome one and all to the second round of the Pokemon Pro Circuit! We have a very special match for you this time around! Lucian has been offered another chance to compete for the title of best of the best, and now he faces off against Jake Goodheart!"

Lucian smiled at the announcer's introduction. He loved it when people talked about him. Quickly he ran his hand across the red and white Pokeballs on his belt and took his place on the arena floor.

He wasn't nervous at all, quite the opposite of his previous round. After his embarrasing loss he had devised hundreds of strategies and tricks to guarentee his victory. When he faced that girl again (And he was sure he would) there would be no hope for her. He would show her that he was number one!

Where's my opponent? I want to get this over with fast. he thought. He had gone to watch Jake's match after his failure and had a perfect idea of how to defeat his opponent without any trouble. But how am I supposed to beat him if he isn't here? Maybe he won't come and I can win by default. That's almost how I got here anyway.

"Maybe he was so afraid of losing to me he just ran away. I wouldn't blame him." he thought aloud. As soon as he did the announcer shouted again.

He's here! Lucian realized and tried to get a look at the figure entering the arena.

Jake entered the arena with a serious look on his face. He was unhappy that his opponent was able to qualify for the next round, even after losing in the first, while he had to fight to make it.

"Ahh, well." He said to himself. "Can't worry about that now."

His opponent smirked at him, and he shot back a grin. "I hope you're ready, Lucian! I'm coming out hard! Go, Wildfang!" He threw the expanding sphere out onto the field, and grinned again once the ball revealed it's contents. The steel bird had joined the fray, and it was going to come out hard.

He continued to grin as he awaited his opponents next move...

A steel type. Predictable. Lucian thought. I bet this guy is just another by the book no name trainer. I've never heard of him, so he can't be  all that famous.

"Lucario, you're the best for the job. Just do what I told you last night."

The green haired strategist launched the ball directly above Skamory and his blue and black pokemon burst out, charging a blaze kick in midair. The humanoid dropped from the sky, its feet a blazing storm of power.

"You call that coming out hard? You're the son of some sort of prodigy, right? So prove it!"

At his opponent's last remark, Jake felt his cheeks warm. "This fool is making fun of my battle style!" He thought to himself. "I'll show him..."

"Wildfang! Dodge, then take flight and use your Fly attack."

The steel bird quickly moved out of the way as the humanoid Lucario crashed to the ground. Skarmory flew high into the sky. Jake chuckled.

"Well, now. I seem to be up and your Lucario isn't looking so good after that fall." he said.

Just then, the announcer boomed; "What have we here! It seems as though Lucario and Lucian thought they had the advantage, but now Jake and Skarmory are stealing the show!!"

Jake smirked as he awaited his opponent's next move...

Lucian let out a long, elaborate sigh and shook his head slowly as the bird dodged and laughed at the look of annoyance on his foe's face.

"Lucario, don't move! Rock Slide when it gets close!"

Lucario nodded acknowledgement(sp?) and prepared for the next attack.

"Come on? You thing that rusty bird can take me on? You obviouly don't know anything!"

This is too great! Lucian laughed silently. Man, this guy is easy to annoy! Quickly the shorter trainer ran his hand through his hair, making sure his signature point was still up. The Skamory still floated above.

Jake took that moment to relax, and knew that was a mistake. The steel bird flew down, knocking the humanoid Pokemon over, but was countered by a reckless Rock Slide, which made it's mark on Skarmory. Jake shuddered at the thought of the Pokemon's pain...

"Wildfang, recover from the hit and use Drill Peck! If it recovers sooner than expected, attack fast, and hard!"

He knew the humanoid couldn't last forever, so he would just keep pounding him.

"Having fun there, Lucian? Your Pokemon doesn't seem to be! Haha!"

He decided not to blow it again, because it could cost him to lose focus...

Lucian chuckled at his opponent's horrible joke, and found that he could not stop. The chuckle turned into a loud heavy laugh, and soon he could feel tears welling up in his eyes. It truly amazed him that his opponent thought he was winning. How ignorant could you get? Sure, the bird had hit Lucario, but the Pokemon could stand up to quite a bit more before going down.

"Lucario! Win!" he ordered. The pokemon turned to its trainer with a quizzical expression, and Lucian remembered that Lucario was his newest addition to the team. He hadn't had the time yet to train it to be independant of its owner like he had the others. It had been a heavy gamble even bringing Lucario into th Pro Circuit, but looking at this match it definetly had payed off.

"Look, Lucario, it has to come close to peck you, right?" he pointed out, using the caring but strict voice reserved for training. With his methods Empoleon and the others were nearly completely independent of him. For the most part, a simple order such as "Finish it" would have the opposing Pokemon down for the count. Of course, no matter how smart they were they hadn't the capacity (or so he assumed) to strategize that he had. They still needed his guidance.

The Lucario clearly still didn't understand. Lucian breathed a deep sigh and stared into the blue and black pokemon's eyes and explained quickly what to do, for the steel bird was descending rapidly.

"Look, all you need to do is hit it with a Rock Slide at close range, but this time use Rock Slide so that instead of the rock hitting Skamory, Skamory hits the rock."

The Humanoid Pokemon nodded its comprehension and grabbed the rock it had used previously. As the bird descended Lucario held steady, not releasing until the Pokemon was almost on him. The rock soared directly into the birds path, not only startling it but blocking its vision as well.

"My Pokemon doesn't seem to be having fun? You're in no position to talk!" he giggled as he pushed his bangs out of his eyes.

(Sorry for WoT if that sort of thing bugs you)
