Login problems

Since the server move, people have been reporting login problems. There was a previous link to "Clear Board Cookies" that does not fix the problem. If you can't login, or get returned to the "Guest" main page after logging in, follow the steps below to correct this.

Firefox

  • 1) Log out of hbgames.org

    2) (V3.0)Tools -> Clear Private Data -> Cache, Offline Website Data, Authenticated Sessions
    • (V3.5)Tools -> Clear Recent History -> Time: Everything -> Details: Cache, Active Logins -> Clear Now

    3) Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Show Cookies

    4) Select "hbgames.org" & "rmxp.org", and Remove Cookies

    5) Go log back in to http://www.hbgames.org

Internet Explorer

  • 1) Log out of hbgames.org

    2) Tools -> Internet Options -> General tab -> Delete Files -> Delete all offline content -> OK

    3) Windows Explorer -> C:\Documents and Settings\<your login ID>\Cookies

    4) Select "hbgames.org" & "rmxp.org" & "www.rmxp.org", and delete them

    5) Go log back in to http://www.hbgames.org

In both, there is an option to Delete all cookies when you are in step 2. This will clear logins & remembered data for every site you have visited. Your choice. I made the instructions to just clear cookies for this site.

Chrome

You might want to include the steps for those who have the newer update of Firefox. I was sitting there like wtfh!? trying to find everything because it changed things around.

Just throwing this out there.

Could there be domain crossing issues, and inconsistent setup of the board software, due to multiple updates, and the rebranding, potentially be part of what's causing the issue?

An example of the cross setup: the moderators listed for the boards, hover their link, they point to RMXP; is it possible some other areas on the server-side, that are somewhat random in where they appear, are crossed behind the scenes, causing browsers, like Firefox, to block the cross site cookie set/get operations?

Into that, could it be something beyond the script itself, and something else like a misconfiguration on the server, where the inconsistent links from one user to both websites causing the server to assume the same session, glitching their server-side session?

Edit: On a side note, I see that RMXP.org now forwards the exact URI (minus the domain rmxp.org) to the new domain.

And for Chome:
1) Click the wrench in the upper-right hand corner and pick "Clear Browser Data"
2) Pick Everything but Passwords and time: Everything
3) Wait
4) Done!

Yeah Alex, we found that phpBB3 does not handle multiple domains out of the box. I tried out a modification that adds that feature and that didn't resolve our problems. So we decided to end the multiple domain experiment and just have everything lead to hbgames. Currently IE, is still seeing hiccups, but hopefully those will be gone one i remove the the multidomain mod that seemed to cause more problems than it solved.

I have no problem whatsoever with Safari 4 on my Mac (Mac OS X 10.5.7). What version are you using?

Same as you, but the bug only occurred on this forum. Every time I deleted cookies, they would come back automatically and effectively screw up the login system so that I had to go ahead and delete them again. After the fix it's all good like on my PC. It even stays logged on even though the fix is supposed to make it Session-only.

Using my Vista with Internet Explorer, I did the steps you said, except, I could not find my Cookies in my User folder. Right now, I'm using the library computer because I couldn't sign in on my desktop. Each time I sign in, It goes to the "You have been logged in. 'Return to index page" thing, then when I click the link, I'm signed out.

Help me!
