[LEGION] green's Workshop

I think this "pixelwar" is a good effort to revive rmxp's resource section. I only wish I had some more time to contribute..

ps. Am I the only one left opposing ppp?

update: finally something to contribute..

Cool updated breeze trees, they'll be useful to me for testing out these tilesets I'm working on. They're far better than the old ones.

God, your stuff is amazing as always.

love the big blob monster WIP, and the treasure chest is adorable.

love your spritework green raven. keep up the good stuff! green slime on the right side is my favorite. the one below it is a awesome battler too. are you going to animate the mini green slime?

He already has. Check his site. :]

What is your method for doing sprites like this one with a hat?
You draw the character first, the you make the drawning dimensions smallers and start to sprite, or you start from the "0", just with a drawning refference?

I think the sprites are looking pretty nice. What I'd personally suggest is that you try hue shifting the colors a little bit more. Most of your colors seem to just go in a straight light->dark (most noticeable with the green), and I think it'd be interesting if you could push the lighter colors to yellow a bit more and the darker ones to blue/purple a bit, or something to that effect.

thanks man. The colors have been taken directly from the rm2k3 sprites.
So I didn't changes hues because this way the sprites will fit with the battlers, and because you could just shift hues in rm2k3.

:)

Yeah, that makes sense. It unfortunately ruins it otherwise if you're doing color changing inside RPG Maker itself.

Also, RM2K3 monsters, good idea. *goes to try some*

Well I think it looks quite well when applied correctly. :)

Also, would be great to see you do some monsters as well. I always felt 2k3 needed pixeled monsters instead of those drawn ones.

Wow, Green Raven, you've gotten better at pixel art! You're not quite there yet, but much improved from a year or so back. I particularly like the slime with the big teeth and the knight. They're very slick pieces. Keep up the good work! :)

Here's an old piece of yours:

You're putting these out very quickly. Keep it up and you'll be a master in no time. :) You're going to have to start moving onto more grander pieces though.

I like your drawing, design and speed at cracking out pixel art, but I think that one is a bit below your others. Your best are the slimes, the knight and the grim reaper type one. The dragon one was amibitious and a good challenge to take on but it looks undershaded. I know I urged you to do bigger, more demanding stuff and it's not a bad start. The wing looks quite slack to me as well and I think you could do better there. What makes the slime, knight and reaper so good is their crisp shading. They've also got a lot of character to them.

Sprites of that size are a whole different ball game to the others as you have to pixel in more detail, which I don't think you have done.

Green your stuff is really great, I specially like the..octopus and slime one.
I do agree with the dragon though I specially love your palettes, that's something I can't seem to get right at all...
