After breaking in one of the forum posters here (he's in a downward spiral of losing credibility) and achieving a victory (over a person who speaks native english :s kinda' depressing really), I've decided to throw another question out for me to kind of play in. Title came from a magazine article btw.
But please don't take this too seriously, it's all just for fun. Anyway... I'm gonna try to make this sound like it's out of Metal Gear Solid because it's fun like that.

From the Russian Revolutions in 1917 to the destruction of the Berlin Wall and dissolution of the Warsaw Pact union in 1989, the world has been a bilateral battleground for Warlords, Policymakers, Economists and Activists all alike.
The notions of each ideology so far-reaching... it defines where we stand in politics, morals and beliefs even until today.
However, I've come to be bothered by such distinctions... It's become inadequate as a method to identify my own beliefs to begin with. One can even ask... was it ever sufficient?
A historian named Fukuyama once wrote that the end of the Cold War not only heralded the end of an era... "but the end of history as such... the end point of mankind's ideological evolution and the universalization of Western liberal democracy as the final form of human government." The absolute end of Socialism... and the proliferation of Capitalism.
What is Right has won over what is Left.
I myself, find that hard to believe. From the fundamental level alone, one can take Hegel's definition for History - all of which coming from a thesis, antithesis and synthesis... Surely, even if one were to take Fukuyama's word, Western liberal democracy must still have an antithesis? ...As all things do.
What indeed then are the two most powerful, bilateral ideologies serving as each others' antitheses today? From East Asia and America to Christianity and Islam - Have we merely been thrown back into the age of Asian Imperialism or the Crusades?
Perhaps mankind merely wavers in cycles, never fully reaching its potential.
Perhaps I am one step closer to making Her Dream, a reality.
Perhaps there is hope for Outer Heaven just yet.

LOL ok, last part was a joke. But yeah, is history gone? Of course not, but it's rather undefined nowadays. Any thoughts? This is just for fun, don't worry about not being too academic because it isn't a very "academic" question to begin with. (Well it could be, but nah, don't bother)
