Learning Ruby Help?

Hi,

I'm trying to give learning ruby a shot and I am just having a little trouble. I went to the tutorials page and went to scripting between the lines and then to Why's Poignant Guide to Ruby.. and it just wasn't doing it for me.

I need a guide that explains as it lets me build my own script or two, maybe a simple script like a container or something so I could use the information practically. Is there a guide like that out there?

Basically if I could see what I'm doing and how it accomplishes something it would speed the process along quite a bit.

^^purple that's the same website I learned Ruby from ^^its a good one.

Now silencher, why not reading the predefined scripts, I mean try editing the Scene_menu, The Game_Player , that's how I learned "Editing" scripts and if you don't understand something just ask here.

im glad someone else used that site :) I myself read the book in fact and I reccommend buying it if you want to learn ruby and have a good reference to it :). Just one thing to avoid learning unless you want to just use ruby is ruby gems such as guis, since rgss doesnt use those. No need to run tk through rmxp anyways lol I know to people that dont know ruby think im babbling -.-

The best way to learn ruby is editing scripts with rmxp, at least to me works.

actually i did edit scripts trial and error before and that got me interested in learning ruby and than I found that book and learned ruby. Im sure you probally somewhere at least read a tut or something after you edited scripts....
