Laptop getting BSOD'd.

Alright, to clear it out of the way, I don't have any viruses...at least, any AVG can detect. What I think the issue is is corrupted system files. Anyways...

When I turned it off this morning, everything was working fine. However, when I tried to turn it on, it got past the Fujitsu logo just fine, but then I got a screen asking if I should start up in safe mode(Windows XP SP2 btw). Ignoring it, I chose to start Windows Normally. Well, it showed the Windows Logo, but then the infamous BSOD flashed for a second, and then the computer reset. I didn't think much of it, cause the occasional BSOD was bound to happen once in a while. Got the same select screen when it reset, so I tried Safe Mode this time. Same result.

Now, something that may have caused it was that my laptop was on for a bit over 20 hours. Which should mean that it'll be fine if I let it cool off for a while. However, if this is not the case, what can I do to save my computer?

Btw, specs (For the most part)
Fujitsu N3511
ATI Mobility Radeon x300
1024 GB Virtual RAM
70.6 GB Harddrive (30.2 GB free)
Dunno the processer, but it's an Intel single-core one.

You shouldn't crash just from extended uptime. XP is indefinitely stable when idle in most cases. See if you can catch the error message it's throwing.

It flashes way too quick to read the error message. I've tried multiple times (Though I also have poor eyesight, so that could be why I can't see it.

Hm, since you can't get into windows you can't change it to stop automatically rebooting on a BSOD either.  Can you boot into safe mode with command prompt?

Nope. But it doesn't matter anyways, I just reformated. It sure it fun losing 40 GB of random stuff(Yes, porn's included in that), but w/e. I'm gonna request this for a lock.

Nah we don't lock resolved topics anymore, just let it fall down the page.  However you could have done a repair install rather than reformatting and kept your stuff :(

Don't have a Windows XP disk. My laptop has it integrated on the hard-drive, so I can't exactly do that

Ah, right, forgot it was a laptop.  Well you can always download a pirate copy of Windows XP of the appropriate edition, as long as you haven't torn off your product key sticker in a lunatic fit :D  While technically still illegal, it can be a fucking lifesaver if you don't have access to a disc but you have a valid product key.

In any case, you've done the deed so it's too late now, but keep it in mind for the future.  You might consider using a data recovery tool if you're willing to shell out a little cash for what you lost, you might still get quite a bit of it back.  Active File Recovery works pretty well and costs around 40 USD if I remember right.

Alright, I'll look into them, thanks =)

Oh yeah a little bit of advice, get a demo first and run it.  Usually they'll allow you to see what files they can find but won't let you recover them with a demo version.  That way you don't waste your cash to find out the stuff that made it worth it was trashed beyond compare.  It all depends on what got overwritten in the new install; most of your files are still physically on your hard disc, there just isn't anything in the file allocation table telling your computer where to look for them since it got wiped out.

If your drive was really full and really fragmented you will likely be able to get back bits and pieces of a lot of files but most of them will be damaged, also; it's great for text, since you can get back quite a bit of it even if parts of it are junked up but it's not very helpful for music, movies, and images.  Don't expect 100% of what it shows as recoverable to be in pristine condition.  I tend to be able to recover around 60% of lost personal stuff in working order when I do it for people though. :)

Well, I had about 30 GB of space left on my HD when it happened. Really though, the only reason I'd want to do this is to recover some old games and a few music files, but I can deal with it if it won't work.
