Hello, Kyrsty here =D. I'm going to post up my sprite stuff here from time to time.



O.O More FF8 Sprites? I need a new hobby >.>



AND he's animated! Sheesh...XD.

Now for original characters:


This is Kari. She's weapon-less at the moment (she actually uses a morning star). I want to animate the dress however I don't like how it's shaded.



And this is Blank. I like him a decent bit better than his sister, he's also weapon-less (he uses a scythe). I have his shirt animated (will post soon).


This is kinda crappy but it's my first attempt at spriting a weapon on its own that ISN'T a sword of some sort. At least you can tell what it is (you can, can't you O.O?)


And I made Blank a pixel face with crappy hair. I hate hair. And noses. Especially when drawing realistic[/offtopic]

I think that your characters are too flat now, though this is good for a beginner :thumb:
You seem to have avoided pillow shading for the most part and that's cool, i also kind of like the way you make the lighting on the hair pass over the rest of the pixels though it's too sharp a color on Rhinoa and Selfie (bah i don't know the names well, not a fan of 8).

I'm sorry for this crappy reply, i think some of the tutorials in this place will help you a lot, look for the Tana tuts and you can also check out these little tips of mine in the GT thread, keep it up friend.

That aside, thanks for the advice with the depth of the characters. I've been working hard to get them looking 'fuller' but I'm really bad with palletes :/.

Attempted fix. I need to add more contrast to the pallette, me thinks.

Man I suck with the 3/4 perspective. I told myself ' I have to sprite this in 3/4 perspective', and then I did it front view :crazy: AND THEN I HAD TO FIX IT. I really hate the books

The major problem with your work at the moment is your shading. This is partly affected by poor palette choice.

One major thing to note when shading -- do not shade an object by the lines.
One other major thing to note shading -- do not shade an object by seperate objects (shading each leg exactly the same).

sort of shade the whole piece, then add different light and shadow bits depending on what light casts where. Imagine it like a 3D model.

I'm seeing alot of "I don't like my art" like "A crummy potplant" I didn't think it was that bad until i read that you yourself were putting it down, you were the one who made it you are the one who is supposed to be selling it. the more you say your artwork sucks, the more it will. Just a tip

I have been severely reprimanded in real life for being a bit of an egotist so I generally downplay myself =/. But I'm getting reprimanded for doing that too now -_-'.

I'm just not going to comment and leave you guys to it.

Plus, I'm going to redo the pot plant since the leaves are wrong- I'm using references so...

Alright, some stuff I've been working on for an FF parody completely unrelated to the above sprites except Squall is in it.
Though I don't have any sprites of Squall to upload at the moment.



I WOULD post the original, but it makes me cry. Seriously. The lineart isn't even done properly.


I don't have an animated version, I'll make one sometime later on today (its 12:20pm I have school tomorrow and I feel like my head is going to explode. Ok? Ok.)

pretty neat, i like the overall style of these! from what i can see it probably needs just minor shading on the 2nd characters pants, and his shoe possibly. and Cloud's boots look kinda of squared off at the bottem, but you got some potential dont get me wrong, and for the most part the arm animation on Zidane looks pretty cool but maybe the 2nd frame arms are pointing down too much, other than that i like these alot

Finished version of a sprite I posted before, though I think I will have to fix his hair...

Almost finished run animation, based on Cloud's Dissidia one. However I do have a fully functioning run template with animated arms so...yeah...

Front view boobies are credit monkeydlu (well the base at least). Big boobies are hard to sprite >.>

All from scratch and mocked up in MS Paint (each object is completely independent from another, even though they share palettes). The character in the second one is from scratch though he's been given a redesign in the last 24 hours =P.
